Obama In 30 Seconds

MoveOn.org had a contest to make a commercial for Barack Obama. Over 1000 people sent in video and it seems like they posted them all. I watched them for over an hour and I didn’t find the one that had some people I know in it. Hopefully I will get a link to it from them and can post it. So many of the videos I watched were exactly the same. They just had people of different races talking about hope or reciting his speeches. Or they had little kids saying cute things and talking about he future. Or they just had Obama talking over patriotic images. Or they compared him to Lincoln. It was pretty much those four commercials over and over again mixed with various talking points and bullshit about hope and change, but I did find two that I really loved. The top one is an interview with a 100 year old republican who is voting democrat for the first time in her life. She probably voted for Calvin Friggin’ Coolidge. That is if women even had the right to vote then (they did). The second uses images of toys to illustrate Obama’s political platform. Check out the ones below and then watch the others here. If you find any you really like, post them in the comments. Word.

Jon Lovitz Is My Hero

So this is not really relevant to anything as this video was posted many months ago, but a friend of mine sent this to me yesterday with the instructions “you should blog about this”.  I will indulge him because I LOVE Jon Lovitz.  This is a YouTube video o f Jon Lovitz talking about how his myspace page is real and not a hoax.  He talks about his new comedy club and how he is doing stand up now.  If you go to his myspace page it talks about how he just started doing stand up and how Dane Cook has taken him under his wing or something and how supportive he has been.  I find this pretty sad since Dane Cook is pretty much a huge douche bag and of limited talents.  Jon Lovitz however is probably one of the funniest people on Earth.  It is sort of upsetting to see him posting photos of him and Cook on his page.  Also slightly upsetting is the comments on Lovitz page where he is shilling for his movie Benchwarmers.  He calls it “really funny”.  While I have no problem with someone plugging one of their films, to put his reputation on the line and call Benchwarmers funny is off putting.  This is because that Benchwarmers might be the worst film I have ever seen.  Ever.  It is consistently terrible.  Rob Shnider is the straight man somehow… the hero.  There is not one laugh in the whole movie… except when Lovitz is on screen.  He is pretty fantastic in it actually.  I started cracking up pretty much every time he was on screen.

Anyway, this video is just weird and surreal and you should just watch it and then go Netflix Hapiness, Trapped In Paradise and the entire series of the Critic and laugh your ass off.

Apologies for the randomness of this, I had an idea for the post but then I started watching hockey and writing a sentence or two between stoppages and I sort of lost my way.

Jamie & Laurie’s Wedding – 4.19.08

My friend Jamie eloped in February but he had a wedding party thing yesterday in Richmond, Va.  When he told me about it I jokingly suggested I preform their ceremony dressed as Elvis since they were already legally married.   Somehow that joke turned into me doing exactly that and signing a song.  There is really bad video of it that will be up when I get back to New York.  After the ceremony it turned into a rock show and some bands played and then since Jamie and all his friends have been in tons of bands over the years and they were all there a bunch of bands reunited and did a few songs.  Jamie’s band the Remotes played for the first time in 8 years.  I will have band photos when I get back as well.  For now, I just put a few images of me as Elvis and a few shot from the wedding on 476ad.

Face Burn Redux

This is pretty much the greatest video ever.  Yet for some reason only a few hundred people watched it.  I think that is because it took so long to get to the good part.  So I decided today to chop it up and JUST give you the good part.  This video is so insane.  It is my friends from back in the day setting themselves on fire accidentally.  It is so fucking crazy.  They had to go to the hospital and everything.  Janicki got third degree burns on his face and Ben got them on his hand.  My friend Angel is filming and her reaction to it is completely priceless.

Anyway, this video is insane, so please, tell your friends and local bloggers.  Let’s get this seen by a few more people.  Not for the faint of heart.

High Voltage – 4.16.08

I took a nap at like 930 last night and I woke up at 1 am instead of 1130.  So I got to High Voltage very late and it had sort of died out a bit for some reason.  I thought about not taking any photos, but I had not shot High Voltage in almost a month, so I got right to it and the people who were there were going crazy so I took a few shots and it was party city and I had some fun and the kids had some fun and it was a-okay alright central.  There were some girls and some guy and some hey hey what do you say?  If you know what I am saying.  Yeah yeah.  Party on rockers.

What?

Time To Get Back To Work

I have avoided putting these last three Family Circus cartoons up because they are the last ones I have left from 2001.  I guess I am going to have to make some new ones now.  I am sort of excited about doing it, but also extremely lazy so let’s see what happens.  I should have 7 years of new Circuses to work with so I think I can come up with something funny.  Until then, check out the last three from back in the day and lets push onward into our Circused future.

Trash Photobooth – 4.4.08

So I didn’t want to put these up right away cause the ones with two lights were a bit bright, and the ones I took after my second light got knocked into the wall and broke were too dark. I kept putting off photoshopping them until I just gave up today and said fuck it and just put them up. Sometimes I am just lazy and we are going to deal with it. Anyway, I did this photobooth cause my filmmaker associates from Orlando were in NYC and they thought it would be fun to do a video booth. I brought my lights and realized we could do both at once. I had never done this sort of thing, and I was not real happy with the results, but there was a lot of fun stuff going on and people got pretty wild. In fact there is enough wild stuff that we have to rate this NSFW! There are a total of 5 nipples from 5 different girls, which is pretty amazing. I mean, usually you get two nipples per person, but not in this case. INSANITY! Anyway, just look at these things already and stop emailing me to ask me when they are going up. Sorry they are late.

Lomo Fish Eye Fun In Orlando

The first night I was in Orlando I had just broken my Yashica and I was trying to buy a new point and shoot but I didn’t have time until the next day.  I asked the kids I was staying with if they had a camera I could use.  They handed me a Lomo Fish Eye camera and when I opened it, it had a razor blade and coke in it.  They had just been using it to store their drugs in so they gave it to me.  I have always thought that fish eye shit was a bit cheesy and I still do, but it was a little fun for a night.  If I did it again I think I would get closer to people and do some things differently.  I don’t know if you want to check them out, but there are a few cool ones over here.

Failed Again…

Whilst I did not accomplish my goal of getting the photos from last weeks Trash photobooth up today I did accomplish everything else on my list, which I have to say is a great success.  After barely moving for three days, I stayed up for 30 straight hours and was extremely productive.  I even had time to see a movie involving that guy from Bill And Ted and that guy from the Crying Game doing something involving lots of guns.  I have to admit I was pretty tired when I saw it and I don’t actually remember what it was called… but there were a lot of racial slurs.

Anyway, I am in a much better mood now, but extremely tired, which means I am not going to go out AGAIN.  This is becoming a habit, but on a positive note it is forcing me to come up with other things to blog about and I have received three emails praising my prose today, so that is appreciated… fuck I wish I didn’t have to spell check the word appreciate every single time I write it.  I got 11 rolls of film developed today.  They are all top secret, but only one roll did not come out and that was the roll that got exposed when my camera broke.

SPEAKING OF CAMERAS: IF ANYONE HAS A YASHICA T4, T4- SUPRA OR T5 THAT I CAN BORROW UNTIL I GET A NEW ONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW!! THANKS!

Sorry about that, I just need to stop taking all my photos with this:

Anyway, it is my only goal tomorrow to get the photobooth images up;  So until tomorrow…. Keep those links coming and watch out for snakes!
