I am on the way back from my trip to Miami this weekend and I had meant to get these photos up already but I didn’t have time to work on this post until I got to the airport. On Thursday before I left for this trip I threw the New York release for my book “Get Your Kicks” at Mishka’s 350 Broadway location in Brooklyn. There was no art show with this release so I didn’t push it as hard so it was significantly more subdued than the wild LA book release but it was a lot of fun.

Sailor Jerry provided free booze and we played this Drop The Lime Route 66 themed rockabilly mix that he curated for the show. A ton of my favorite people showed up and I actually think I sold more books at the NYC event because I had a chance to really talk to everyone and the books were a bit easier to see. They were more the star of the show instead of the art gallery in LA.

The highlight of the show was a girl getting so drunk that she tried to take off her pants and piss in the middle of the store. She got dragged outside, dropped her pants and pissed right in front of the store while everyone watched. Surprisingly I decided against taking photos until she tried to get back into the store which was hilarious. Gawker’s Camille Dodero Tweeted that it was the first book party she had ever been to where someone was thrown out. This is something I am very proud of.

Complex wrote up the book too but there was no mention of the pissing drunk lady but I will take what I can get!

I am so proud of my Route 66 photo book and I am so glad these release parties are over. I am going to be sending out over 100 of them towards the end of this week so if you want to buy a copy I would suggest you do so ASAP cause I am leaving town again in a week and you might not get a book if you don’t get on it.  So buy one now! So Friday’s LA release of my limited edition Route 66 book “Get Your Kicks” was a huge success. Mishka LA was packed all night and I sold a bunch of books. The whole thing was really awesome and there will be a bunch of photos from it when I get back to NYC on Wednesday. I posted a few photos on Tumblr if you want to check that out and there should be a video soon.

But the more important news is that the book release party is coming to NYC! We are doing this all again (minus the photo show) on Thursday at Mishka’s 350 Broadway location in Williamsburg (Marcy or Hewes JMZ train stop). I will be selling the books and signing books if you want. There will be free Sailor Jerry rum and beer and Drop The Lime curated a rock and roll Route 66 themed play list for the event.  There is also going to be a limited edition Mishka t-shirt for sale as well.

After the show is over I will put the book on sale for those people who couldn’t make it out to the release parties. The books also should continue to be on sale at both the Mishka LA and Brooklyn stores.

Anyway, I hope to see a ton of my friends out at Mishka’s 350 Broadway on Thursday, I know it’s CMJ fest but stop by and say hi, get a free drink, buy a book and get on to whatever hipster buzz band you are going to see.

So today I am headed to Los Angeles for the release of my Route 66 book “Get Your Kicks”. If you somehow missed it I traveled all of Route 66 from Chicago to LA with a bunch of hot naked girls taking photos of them and roadside Americana and them in front of roadside Americana. I am doing a big photo show and book release party at Mishka LA this Friday. There will be another smaller event at Mishka’s Brooklyn location on Oct 17th. In honor of the book release I am going to post this set of Annalee Belle at the famous Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, TX. The Ranch is a Route 66 classic built by the eccentric oil billionaire/ artist Stanley Marsh 3. It was one of the main attractions I really HAD to see on my road trip and I wanted to shoot a naked girl in front of it. Unfortunately I didn’t have a model for that leg of the trip so I went to the internet to find someone. I only managed to find two possible models in Amarillo and I emailed them both. Annalee Belle hit me up and not only was down for the shoot but was actually a fan of my work. I was pretty psyched.

I picked her up and we headed to the ranch and she kinda ruined my excitement when she told me Stanley Marsh was a child molester and was currently  on trial for sexually assaulting several teen boys. Despite this awful news we headed to the Cadillac Ranch and despite insane winds, dust and tons of people spray painting the Cadillacs we managed to shoot a few photos including the cover of my book! On top of that we only got caught like twice and I had Annalee home in less than an hour from when I picked her up. It was a pretty successful trip.

But yeah, check out these photos and get excited for the release of my first of what will hopefully be many books.

This is it. I started with an idea I had two years ago of driving all of Route 66. I finally got my self organized in May and decided basically to try crowd fund a vacation. I figured if I made a zine or something out of the road trip I could get people to give me money and amazingly it worked. I raised some outside funds and took off on a 31 day road trip, the bulk of which were spent traveling Route 66.

I started out in Chicago and spent a day with Caprice Capone and then spent three days driving to St. Louis (a four hour drive if you take the highways) with one of my favorite models Sidney Scarlet. Once I got to St. Louis I spent the day hanging out with my girl Theresa Manchester, a St. Louis native. From there I flew in my muse of muses Charlotte Stokely and spent three days driving her to Oklahoma City, OK. I had lunch with my friend Heidi there and she ended up jumping in my car and going to Amarillo with me. In Amarillo I met Annalee Belle who I got to photograph in front of the famous Cadillac Ranch (as seen on the cover of my book!). I then took off towards Albuquerque, NM where I picked up the amazing Ash Hollywood and drove her to Vegas which is just two hours north of 66. In Vegas I spent two days in a nice hotel after a two weeks on the road and ran into Coco Velvett. She decided she could use a ride to LA and we drove back down to Route 66 and spent maybe 10 hours driving the short trip from Vegas to LA. Once I got to LA I only had one spot left to hit and I took Miss Crash down to the Santa Monica pier and photographed her naked on the ferris wheel.

The entire trip was life changing and I was so lucky to have such amazing models willing to get naked in public all across the country for basically nothing. When it was over I had coincidentally shot 66 rolls of film (well I shot 67 but one of them sadly got lost) and had a body of work I was truly proud of. Instead of just making a black and white photo copied zine I really stepped up my game and ended up spending a ton of money self publishing a limited edition book. It is hand numbered out of 250 copies. It is 85% color and 120 pages long. It really looks incredible. I am so happy with this thing and I can’t wait until you guys see it.

Originally I was going to plan a low key book release in NYC but I started thinking about how great it would be to do the release in LA where Route 66 ends. I was going to be out there in October anyway and I thought maybe I could throw something together last minute. I started texting some friends and Greg from Mishka got back to me immediately. I was thinking maybe I could do something small in their LA store since they do in store events in their Brooklyn store all the time. Turns out they just opened a new gallery above their LA Location and they were looking for an October show. He asked me if I could get a show together in time and I jumped on it.

So on October 11th I will be doing the book release in LA and there will be a huge photo show to go with it. I printed over 4o photos including 11 massive 20″ x 30″ prints. Not sure what I am going to hang until I get there but Mishka’s gallery is pretty big and I should have room to hang most of it. It’s going to be awesome. The book release is from 7-10 on the 11th but the photo show will be up for 6 weeks. There will be free Sailor Jerry rum and beer if you need a reason to go. There will also probably be a bunch of porn stars there if that’s your sort of thing… just saying.

There will also be a NYC event at Mishka’s 350 Broadway location as well but there won’t be a photo show. Just some free booze and an opportunity to buy the book.  I think the date is going to be October 17th but it’s not 100% confirmed yet. Just a heads up. Assuming they don’t all sell out (100 of them are already owed to crowd funders) the books will be available in late October.

I will be at a Shanktastic warehouse in Brooklyn with a bunch of motherfuckers including Killa Cam, Trouble Andrew, Isa from Florence & The Machine, Prince Terry, Dances, Krames, Nick Gazin, Full Time Fun DKDS and a ton of other DJ’s that I don’t know. It’s gonna be fun as hell and rage all night so fucking show up. Not sure what a Neon Beach is but it’s on. Come get your photo taken, take your shirt off. Let’s get weird.

Back in May my punk band Fucking Bullshit played at Public Assembly after the Brooklyn version of the New York Zombie Crawl. It was probably our best show and I can’t tell you how much fun I had singing to a room full of zombies. A few months before the show a guy named Daniel Huskey hit me up about doing some video editing for me and I knew this would be a really fun show to get on video. My friend and juggalo photographer Dan Cronin was in town and I asked him to video tape some of it. My friend Chris Carr just happened to be there and taped some of it as well. On top of that Backseat Conceptions who put on the zombie crawl video taped some of it. So in all we had four cameras running for at least parts of the set. We ended up with six pretty awesome videos from the concert featuring seven songs from our set. We do all covers so if you dig punk at all you will probably know at least a couple of them. I posted our cover of Black Flag’s Nervous Breakdown over on the B-Side Blog and you can see all of them on the Fucking Bullshit Vimeo page. Below I am going to post a few of my favorites.

“Alcohol” is a Gang Green cover and our set opener. I jump into a hoard of zombies and possibly ruin a few lives. Next we have a delightful medley of 7 Seconds “Young Til I Die” and Cro-Mags “Hard Times”. Young Til I Die is a bit too straight edge for Fucking Bullshit so we changed it to “Drunk Til I Die”. In this video I choke myself with a mic cable and nearly knock myself out jumping off stage. I am just dazed enough to fuck up the lyrics. Lastly we have a cover of the Misfits upbeat ditty “Last Caress”. I was losing my voice at the point in the set, luckily Zombie Glen Danzig was there and helped me sing it. Good times.

Before we get to the videos I need to mention that we are going to be playing at Don Pedro’s in Brooklyn this Friday August 3rd at Midnight. The show is only $5 and it’s gonna be a lot of fun. Last time we played Don Pedro’s they gave me a 50 foot mic cable and let me climb on to the skee-ball machines there. You have been warned.

So this Friday I am having my first NYC Solo show at Mishka’s Brooklyn flagship store 350 Broadway. I have turned down a lot of “hang your work in my store” type shows before but Mishka is family and I have been to a lot of really fun art openings at 350 Broadway. Plus they let me show whatever the hell I wanted so it was a good excuse to show something no one has ever seen before.

On Friday from 7-10 I will be showing around a dozen of my NYC street photography shots. There are no naked girls, no party pics and it’s all 35mm. There are a bunch of shots of fights but there are also some nice pretty things like neighborhood kids playing in fire extinguishers and bikers barbecuing. Plus if you really need the naked girls I am 100% someone will get naked at the show. I mean I will have my camera and there will no doubt be a bunch of nude models there. So that’s a thing.

Plus there is going to be free booze provided by Sailor Jerry and if you want to buy art I am gonna keep it super cheap. You can get any of the prints at 11×14 signed and numbered out of 10 for $100. You cannot beat that shit. And if that is still too much for you I am doing a special print with resident Mishka artist Lamour Supreme that is gonna be in the $25 range signed and numbered by both of us.

After the party we are going to head over to the amazing new South Williamsburg bar The Flat for an after party. There might be free booze there too but we will definitely have FUROCHE DJing some jams and I can assure you more good times. Still working out the details on the after party but obviously it will get weird.

So come out on Friday! 350 Broadway in Williamsburg from 7-10. It is right by the Hewes JMZ stop but you can also get there from the Broadway G or Lorimer L. (Also the Metropolitan G and Marcy JMZ for that matter). It’s only a couple blocks from the Brooklyn side of the Willamsburg bridge.

Tomorrow is an exciting day! I am celebrating my birthday, my band is playing and zombies are taking over Brooklyn!

The Brooklyn Zombie crawl is tomorrow starting out at 6pm from Trash Bar and wondering all over Brooklyn until it ends up at Public Assembly around 9pm for an after party that you cannot miss. If you don’t know about the New York zombie crawls you just need to do a search of my website. They are insane. But the real insanity doesn’t happen until the zombies get to Public Assembly.

My band Fucking Bullshit is playing punk rock covers to a packed house of zombies for what will no doubt be our greatest show. I will be wildly drunk because I am celebrating my birthday and I will be in rare form. You cannot miss this shit. Seriously if you ever see a Fucking Bullshit show this should be the one to see.

The whole after party should be insane. It starts at 9pm and Andy Shaw’s band Bikini Carwash is opening. My band goes on at 9:45pm and then it’s just a fleet of naked zombie girls doing all manor of things after that. There is zombie burlesque and the infamous Strip for Pain.  If you want to see Burning Angels naked in real life instead of just on the internet you need to show up. There will be PBR and Sailor Jerry drink specials and I can probably hook it up with free booze if you bother me enough. The whole thing is going to be a shit show.

The after party is $15 or $12 if you come dressed as a zombie but I assure you it will be more than worth it. You got cheap drinks, punk rock covers and a lot of zombie boobs. You need this shit in your life.

I know you are probably pretty sick of hearing about my punk band Fucking Bullshit but too fucking bad we are playing again tonight and I gotta tell you fuckers about it until every person I want to see us has finally seen us. And yes, I have a list and if you are on it, you are probably fucking dead to me for missing our last 10 shows. You know who you are.

Anyway, we are playing tonight at 9pm opening for a bunch of bands and some sort of crazy trapeze show or something at what I believe is a circus called Big Sky Works in Williamsburg. I met this sick rock band called White Mystery a few months ago and they asked us to open for their record release party which I am psyched to be a part of.  The show costs $10 but I am sure all the bands will be amazing and there will be tons of weird stuff.  Also my best friend who started a punk record label with me when I was 15 is going to be there and I HAVE to put on a fucking awesome show for him if no one else.
