Friday Jones Ad

Pick up the new Inked Magazine this week and you will find several things of note. My friend Broklynn has a big spread in there which is pretty damn hot, I have some party photos in there as I do pretty much every issue, but more importantly I have the first ad I have ever shot. (Actually I shot an add for a local newspaper 10  years ago, but I don’t think that counts.) I shot an add for Friday Jones tattoo studio. I am not super stoked with the way it was photoshopped, but it looks pretty nice I guess. Anyway, here’s the Ad.  I only took the photo at the top.

Tck Tck Tck – 12.4.09

So I have managed to get on the press list for the WIRED store for whatever reason so I decided to check out another one of their parties.  I figured it would be good content for the Village Voice.  The event has something to do with global climate change, Kofi Annan and male models, but I am too tired to figure out how all that goes together.  Hopefully this link can explain some of it. I tend to be pretty interested in things without vowels.

Anyway, model Jamie Burke’s band Delilah played as did Theophilus London and Dan Black.  Mark Ronson supposedly DJ’d but apparently showing up two hours late for a 3 hour party was a mistake on my part.  I am actually pretty into Theo London after seeing him twice now (here’s pics from last time) and Delilah was not as bad as you would expect from a band fronted by a male model.

The publicists gave me a list of celebrities that RSVP’d several of which I know personally.  I made some inquires and found out they never actually RSVP’d but I guess convincing press to show up to your events is what publicists do. Not that I am killing myself to shoot celebs anyway, but it makes the Voice happy to get galleries like that. One celeb that did show up trumps pretty much everyone they had on their list. Abel fucking Ferrara.  If you don’t know anything about him, look him up.  He is pretty much the quintessential New Yorker and one of the least apologetic directors of all time. When he found out that the equally unapologetic Werner Herzog was remaking Bad Lieutenant he told him he could “Die in Hell”. Getting to meet him was an honor and makes taking photos reality show stars feel even more empty than it actually is.

I didn’t shoot a ton of pictures from the night because aside from showing up late I spent a lot of time watching Ease Da Man harass models, put Mishka stickers on everyone/everything and shove as many CK One samples into his pockets as humanly possible. I also spent as much time as possible flirting with a rad cocktail waitress who mildly resembled Sasha Grey (The picture of her holding olives does not do her justice, but it is really funny). All and all despite a severe lack of sleep and a mild lack of things to take photos of I had a pretty good time, and I am pretty sure everyone else did since the place was still packed at 1030 when they started kicking everyone out.

Anyway, if you want to check out the pictures from the WIRED Tck Tck Tck party click here.

Trash – 12.4.09

Now I am pretty damn sure I tried to leave Trash before 3am, but some how I didn’t get home until 7. I have no idea what happened.  It may have had something to do with Daniel from Ladytron DJing or Figo playing or the Dexter themed burlesque show from Weirdee girl, or even the other, completely insane burlesque number from Roja Rouge. Again, I really have no idea.  The place was packed and there were offers of sex, and screaming and delicious BBQ burgers but I am not sure exactly how all this fit together.  All I really know is that after several days of not really sleeping I managed to stay up until 10am Saturday before sleeping 17 of the next 20 hours away.  Good god.

Girls & Boys – 12.4.09

Upstairs at Webster Hall you had both the legendary Peter Hook from New Order AND Mr. Tommie Sunshine.  I hadn’t seen Tommie & his awesome girlfriend Daniela in over a year so I was super happy to see those kids.  I keep sort of in touch via my life changing Twitter page, but it just isn’t the same.  I was only upstairs for a little bit to say high to everyone, but I got a few shots worth checking out that you can see by clicking here. It was a fun night.

Best Of Bathrooms

My second mini-post of today was to let  you know about my nudes in bathrooms retrospective on the Village Voice. I do a web gallery for them every week, but since I was gone for Thanksgiving my editor asked me for a collection of my naked people in bathrooms.  Despite the title of the post I asked the Voice specifically not to call it a best of because frankly I think some of my worst photography is naked people in bathrooms. I mean you have to shoot the pictures while people are banging on the door, you have really uninteresting light usually and the whole thing is very rushed.  On top of that I didn’t give the Voice my “best” anyway because I figured a few people might be pissed that they ended up naked on the Voice.  All that being said, it’s a pretty fun gallery to look at so you might want to check it out. I am sure you will see some familiar faces. Very NSFW.

More Dolphins Pictures…

I hadn’t really been able to sleep for a few days and I didn’t manage to fall asleep until 10am this morning.  The combination somehow caused me to sleep until nearly 10pm tonight.  Due to this, the two galleries I shot last night are not even edited much less online.  Luckily, I have two mini updates to post right now and I will just save the Friday night party pictures for tomorrow.

My first update is just more pictures from my DolfansNYC events.  Don’t worry, after these there only 5 more weeks of football and I can stop pestering you with aqua and orange themed posts.  Last week we played the Buffalo Bills who appeared to be one of the worst teams in football.  If we had won that game it would have put us in the drivers seat as far as our chances of winning the AFC East.  Unfortunately we lost and now are pretty much out of the play off hunt.  This caused me to stay in bed for nearly 24 hours. But I think we should just move on.  Nothing to see here folks… Unless you want to look at the pictures from the latest DolfansNYC event which you can see here.

Ps. If you ARE interested in football, or are just really bored, you should check out the 5th Quarter Show.

The Beast: The Video

So you guys read about it, and saw the pictures and now here’s the video. My man against burger match with the infamous Beast of South Florida.  I am not going to say a whole lot about it since I blogged about it before, but here is a quick refresher.  I was in South Florida for a meeting of nerds who run Miami Dolphins websites. A bunch of us were gathered to celebrate the Dolphins victory at Kim Bokamper’s sports bar, when I saw the Beast on the menu. It was a 3 lb burger with 8 strips of bacon, 4 eggs, 4 slices of cheese and a stale loaf of bread for a bun.  You can read about exactly what was going on in my head right here.  And with out further ado, DolfansNYC presents… Igor Vs. The Beast.

Introducing Hussle Club

Prince Terrence has been sending me tracks from his new solo project Hussle Club for a few months now but I just noticed that he finally got his MySpace page up and the word is he’s looking for a bad ass female drummer. It must be weird for Terry to search for a drummer considering his drumming has been making bands like Young Love, Santigold, Major Lazer, HeartsRevolution, Spankrock look good for years. With a resume like that added to his reputation for killing parties from the DJ booth you know that Hussle Club is going to be huge.

Evidently I have signed some sort of blood oath I was not aware of and can’t release any downloadable tracks until they do an official release, but as soon as they do you will know about it. In the mean time you can stream songs on his page and check out a Felix Cartel remix over here.

Plus as a bonus, I did a reedit of one of my shots of Terry to fit the black and white Hussle Club aesthetic.

Nouveau Riche – 11.28.09

You know, I thought I took some decent photos when I was in DC.  Clearly, I was wrong.

Saturday night I was in DC and I was hanging out with these girls Grace and Fabiana that I met on Halloween.  When I found out they were from DC I demanded they take me out next time I was visiting my parents.  Well, Thanksgiving arrived and I was in town and they took me to a party called Nouveau Riche which from what I hear is the place to be.  I didn’t shoot a whole lot, I mostly played around with the new battery pack I got. The party was fun but ended kinda early and I went to an after party until I had to get on a train to head back to NYC. I am pretty sure the highlight of the trip was seeing this dude Carter who used to live in New York and made a bet with me that Obama had no chance at winning the democratic nomination.  Well thanks to my man Barack I still keep getting unemployment checks and I am $50 richer…  it’s just too bad about that whole Afghanistan/Health Care/Guantanamo/Don’t Ask Don’t Tell thing…

Anyway, you should check out the pictures from Nouveau Riche at DC9 by clicking right here.
