Fixed!

Thanks to my amazing webmaster Thadd Williams, DBB is back in action.  I however am late for fashion week.

Updates forthcoming.

Oh Shit.

Something is terribly wrong with the site. I hope this will be fixed ASAP, but if for some reason nothing is working, just know I am on it. I hope.

Here is an adorable little girl talking about adorable cats. Just the type of thing that makes me want to strangle the internets, but also the type of thing that will calm you down while you can’t look at photos of naked girls.

I just wish I had a cute progeny that I could manipulate in order to make viral videos for the Youtubes.

Update: Well, I guess things are fixed. No idea what happened, evidently a WordPress file disappeared. Update coming later tonight. I am pretty much caught up photo wise.

Update Again: Evidently the galleries are still not working.  Why is it that only one person is telling me about this?  If my site explodes in the future, I expect to hear from you guys about it.  Hopefully the site will be working soon.  Don’t expect an update until things are fixed.

New York Comic Con – 2.8.09

My friend Doug was hired by Sega to promote a video game called House Of The Dead at the New York Comic Con. His zombie crew was giving out comic books and hugging little kids and doing face make up. He convinced me it would be fun to hang out there and shoot some pictures. I was a pretty huge comic fan back in the day… but then again I was 12. This convention was less enticing as it would have been in 1992. Still, Doug is pretty convincing and I thought it would be a good chance to take photos of something different. I thought it closed at 7, so I didn’t get there until 3. I spent an hour just looking at people until I ran into my friend Richie and told me that it closed at 5. I then ran into my friend Apathy and the two of us wondered around looking for dressed up weirdos. I sort of spent a lot of time mocking these people in my head, which I have to say was pretty lame of me, especially since I ended up spending $100 on a Bill Plympton animation still. Not the “hippest” move ever. I only made fun of one group of people, but it was an accident and I felt bad about it. I saw a human man dressed as a dragon, and I felt I needed to get a picture. Turns out he was a Pokemon. And in like 1998 I was sort of obsessed with Pokemon. My friends would go to dance parties, buy drugs and we would come back home play the card game. I would always win because I was the only person not on cough syrup or special K. It was a good way to spend my last year of high school. Anyway, I told some 15 year old kids that and they sort of looked at me weird. Then I called this girl out on having a shitty costume. She told me it was from the second series of Pokemon and I told her she just looked like a girl wearing a cape. She sort of started moving slowly backwards at that point. Apathy yelled at me, and I sort of felt like a dick. But come on, your friends are dressed like giant reptiles and you are wearing a shall? I’m just not buying it.

Anyway, it was a weird experience, and something was mildly wrong with my flash so these photo kinda suck. I actually photoshopped them all in hopes of improvement, but it didn’t help much. Still, there is a bunch of weird stuff, really funny stuff, and photos of the Spiderman/Barack Obama cross over comic, so it is totally worth clicking here now to see the NY Comic Con Photos.

Webster Hall – 2.6.09

This normally would be a Trash update, and not a general Webster Hall update but I spent at least 50% of my time upstairs for the Girls & Boys party as I did downstairs and I didn’t want to split up the pics, so um.. yeah, there you go.

I am not sure if you have had this experience, but for some reason 5 girls that I have “hung out” with in the past were all sitting at one table together.  I didn’t even know they knew each other.  They are from all over the place, they have no business being friends.  It was super awkward for me.  I am not sure any of them cared.  They were also sitting next to this girl who blew me off not once, but twice last week.  Just seeing her was awkward until she told me she wanted to hang out with me for real this week…  Of course I haven’t heard from her since.  I am not sure what is wrong with people.  Have the decency to at least blow me off via text.

Anyway, I  had sort of a shitty evening.  Then when it was over a girl I had not seen in months popped a tire and I went to help her with it.  Almost exactly a year ago she popped a tire right in front of my apartment and I fixed it.   This time her jack was broken so after failing to change the tire I just sat in her car with her and listened to shitty Miami techno jams.  It was surprising that people actually listen to music like that in their spare time and not at night clubs.  Anyway, we hadn’t been getting a long of late, but the conversation in the car was nice… then we got into a fight, and then we made up again.  Super frustrating.

Now, I know you probably don’t care about any of that, and to really make this blog interesting I would have to go into too many specifics and then there would be drama and people giving me shit.  So let’s just say that I “made a phone call” and “had sex” with “a model” at nine o’clock in the “morning”.  And see if you can read into and know that my day got better before I finally went to sleep.

Sorry for this bullshit update.  Just click here for photos, they are pretty good.

PS. I don’t normally post two photos of the same person on the main page of an update, but I took too really good photos of my friend Jayme and I just had to post both of them below.  Which do you like more?

Vice Party – 2.4.09

A week or so ago a friend of mine at Vice asked me to shoot me an early party at The Warsaw on Wednesday. I told him I might be able to do it and to call me about it. He called me about 3 hours before the party and told me that they really needed me. I hadn’t slept in 24 hours and I had just taken a sleeping pill. Seriously, he called me less than a minute after I had taken the pill. It was 4pm. He needed me there at 7:30. Fuck. I told him I would do it and that I needed to get two hours. I fell asleep for about twenty minutes when my mom called me to tell me she had put my dog to sleep. Fuck. I didn’t really sleep at all after that but I sort of drifted in and out of consciousness until I realized it was 8pm. I was so fucked up on my sleeping pill. I have absolutely no memory of driving there.  I just sort of stumbled about for the first 30 minutes I was there without taking any photos.  I finally pulled out my camera when Love Or Perish began playing.  They did a full set of Misfits covers.  As a fan of the punk rocks, it is needless to say I was wide awake by the end of their set.  The first half of this gallery is just photos of them.  Ninjasonik played after them, but I wanted to get those photos up really quickly so I already blogged about those.  Speaking of that, sorry it took so long to get these up, it is mostly not my fault.

Okay, Click For The Photos.

No Soy Paparazzo

Okay, so admittedly that title doesn’t make sense.  I realize that paparazzi is Italian and soy is Spanish… But I don’t speak Italian and my abilities in Spanish past the Taco Bell menu are suspect.  But I do know most of the lyrics to La Bamba and Richie Valens, No soy marinero, pero, soy capitan, soy capitan. So there for, this makes sense some how.

The point is I make for a shitty paparazzo.  When I had down time at Sundance it was usually only for an hour or two so it never made sense to try to see a movie or do anything outside of the downtown area so I would just hang out on Main Street and see if I could shoot some random celebs.  I just sort of practiced being involved with the paparazzi.  I met a bunch of the guys and shot some photos.  My shot of Amy Poehler got picked up, but didn’t sell, the rest I had no luck with.  I am just not cut out for harassing these people.  And these photographers told me to get shots that don’t even make sense to my esthetic.  Evidently they want full body shots and people waving at you and things.  I don’t know.  They were stalking people I have never even heard of, yet they had no idea who Rob Corddry was.  That is just not right.  I missed shots of Perry Ferrell and Paul Giamatti because I had my settings wrong and Michael Cera told me not to take his photo, so I didn’t.  It was sort of a disaster.  Running after Kristen Stewart from Twilight was pretty fun though.  I had no idea who she was but when everyone started running I got to jump over some stuff.  The shots I got of her sucked, but at least I got to make believe like I was chasing after Michael Jackson or something.

I did have a few good shots though.  I got some good ones of Wesley Snipes and Guillermo del Toro speaking in spanish to eachother.  I talked to Rob Corrdry about his show the Winner.  I got to briefly talk to Kelli Garner, who I spent an hour googling after I saw her in Thumbsucker several years ago.  I saw the only two funny cast members of SNL (Poehler and Bill Hader) and shot Sam Rockwell and Liam Nielson while talking to a friend who was working the door at the Gibson lounge.

The best shot I got (which I found hilarious, but evidently no one cares about) was of Joe Francis of Girls Gone Wild fame hugging a bunch of small children.  This guy is a convicted child pornographer.  Okay, maybe that is a slight exaggeration, but I am not sure why anyone would let him near their kids. The parents thought it was hilarious, as did everyone else.  When he saw me take the shots, he said “This is going to get me in trouble isn’t it?”  Well, evidently not.  No one cares enough about Joe Francis… But as far as I am concerned Joe, it was the shot of the week.

Click here to see my failed attempt at stalking celebrities for money.

PS.  This is the last of my Sundance shots.  It only took me three weeks to get them all up!  On to new adventures now… That is if I can get my gallery software to start working properly again.

Prix Photo 2009

Just a quick update with some non party, non nude work I did….

I shot all the photos for the website for this photo contest.  There is a poster too, but I haven’t seen it yet.  I will get an image of that when I have one.  I photographed all my cameras for fun a while back.  I blogged about it here.  These Swiss guys found the photo on Flickr and liked it and wanted me to redo it.  I did, and then they paid for my rent for two months.  I love them.

Anyway, the photo old from Flickr is below and the website with the new shots is here.  The last of Sundance goes up in about ten minutes and god willing my gallery software is going to stop fucking with me and we will have photos from the Vice party on Wednesday, Webster Hall on Friday and 2 hours at the Comic Con on Sunday.  I will put them all up tomorrow if they have been uploaded by then.  See you soon.

Playhouse Photobooth – 2.4.09

So I have had this up for a few hours without any text here, and the response is really positive… Which is slightly disappointing.  I am glad people like the photos, but I think my event work is much stronger than this photo booth.  It just shows that people like super mediocre studio-esque work more than they do the best of my event work.  What if I actually knew what I was doing and lit people properly, you guys would be going crazy… Still I think I am going to have to continue doing the booth at least one more week.  So come out Wednesday and I will shoot you in my box.  Speaking of, what about photo booths make people take their clothes off?  People were going nuts in there.  One girl takes her shirt off causing a streak of five girls to do the same.  That is my kind of party, I have already had to take down photos for people…  NSFW of course.

So yeah, good times were had for sure, I don’t really like standing in the corner of the room all night, but maybe I can get someone to assist me next week and bring me models and watch the booth whist I go pretend to dance. That might be more fun, anyone up for the (non-paying) job?  Also, I have received a number of texts and emails about these photos, I just wish you guys would make the comments on the site, and not to my phone.  It makes me really excited when that little number below the post says something other than (0).  So, if you like these, or hate them, let me know about it via comments… That goes for future posts too.

And lastly, completely unrelated, if there are any NYC based tattoo artists out there reading this site, send me an email.  I have an idea.

Click here for crazy good photo booth times!

Sundance 25th Anniversary Gala – 1.19.09

Second to last Sundance gallery.  This was my last day working at Sundance and I had planned to go see the Yes Men movie, unfortunately I was needed to shoot this 25 Anniversary Gala because there was a rumor that Robert Redford was going to show up.  If he did show up, we needed the shot.  I tried to get out of it to no avail.  I had to blow off the movie, and a date for the off chance of Redford showing…  Well, he did show up, and it was worth it.  I got shots of him with our absinthe fairy, Met Andie McDonald, Steven Soderbergh with a glass of absinthe, Kevin Bacon with absinthe at the after party and I flirted a bit with Elizabeth Reaser from twilight.  It was great and I still got to see the girl after.  But I am still waiting to see the Yes Men Fix The World.

Click here for photos of the Sundance 25th anniversary event.

PS. Just so you know what’s going on… The event started at the Entertainment Weekly Loft.  There were cocktails and a dinner (we couldn’t shoot at dinner) and then everyone went down to the tent outside to see Stew perform before dispersing.
