Alysha Nett

When I was in Austin and unexpected opportunity presented itself. Alysha Nett just happened to be in town and wanted to take some photos. Alysha travels all over the place to model but she is based out of Philly. We have talked about shooting many times but I figured it would be in NYC or in her neck of the woods, I never thought it would be in Texas of all places. Fortunately we were both in town for Fun Fun Fun Fest and we both were still in town on the Monday following the festival. I went over to her friend Hattie Watson’s place (who I hope to shoot (for real) one day too!) and Alysha took off her clothes in Hattie’s kitchen.  Actually I should say that she took off my clothes since the shirt she is wearing in the pictures is my 150th anniversary of Texas shirt that my grandmother gave me when I was six years old. It seemed appropriate wardrobe for a Texas shoot.

I like a bunch of these photos because Alysha is such a good model but maybe using the harsh track lighting in Hattie’s kitchen wasn’t the best idea. Still, when you have a girl like Alysha drinking wine with a straw naked in a kitchen you cannot possibly go wrong. Also I should mention that not only is Alysha a babe but she is also an amazingly cool girl and she once convinced me to go rollerskating with her which is a pretty impressive feat. I hope I get to hang out with her and take a lot more photos soon!

These photos are NSFW of course and you should look at them until your eyeballs explode.

ICP & Twiztid Portraits

During this years Gathering of the Juggalos I got a chance to sit along side Camille Dodero while she interviewed the Insane Clown Posse and their proteges Twiztid. During and after the interviews I had a chance to take some photos of the guys up close and I got some shots I really liked. I was planning on running these pictures way back in August but I was waiting for Camille to run her interviews. She ultimately ended holding on to the Twiztid interview until it was time to promote their recent show in NYC. I was going to finally publish the photos then but I got stuck with all this CMJ Fest coverage and then Voodoo Fest and Fun Fun Fun and I am just now getting around to posting these photos. So click the links above to check out the interviews and then check out my photos by clicking the link below. It’s a good mix of digital and 35mm including some 35mm black and white which really brings out the violent clowniness in their eyes.

Fucking Bullshit @ Lulu’s

I don’t even know why I need to keep telling you motherfuckers about how life changing my punk cover band is, but you need to know. You get another chance tonight to see Fucking Bullshit if you have the balls for it. We are playing a free show tonight at Lulu’s in Greenpoint. Not only is the show free but you get free pizza with every drink order. You cannot fuck with that. The show starts at 9 and we play around 11. There are two metal bands from Boston playing with us.

Seriously you need to go for one of three reasons. 1) You are a friend of mine/fan of this website and you need to support. 2) You want to just see a wild fucking show and like the idea of watching me do something insanely fucked up on stage 3) You like punk rock and this shit will actually be an amazing fun time for you.

We have played three shows so far and I have bled on stage in two of them.  I will get drunk and possibly vomit. I might get naked. Who fucking knows? I certainly don’t. I can’t promise anything other than it will be a wild show and the more people who show up the more likely it is for the show to end in a horrifying display of violence.

To get a better understanding of what I am talking about look at these photos and then enjoy this short video clip of me trying to knock myself unconscious with a microphone while covering a GG Allin song. I love you all, see you tonight.

Dolfans NYC Vs. The Jets

So now that I am finally caught up with all the Fun Fun Fun Fest/Voodoo Fest posts I decided to look back and see if there was anything I missed. Turns out I have four galleries that somehow didn’t get posted. Two of those are Miami Dolphins related. I think part of it was that the Dolphins are not good at football and part of it is that I already blogged the pictures over on DolfansNYC, but most of it was just that I have been insanely busy. But whatever the case these pictures are over a month old and it’s time to get both galleries up at the same time so we can move on.

So as you may know I am one of the founders of Dolfans NYC the New York City Miami Dolphins official fan club. I know to most of you that sounds completely insane when you look at it with the rest of the shit I do in my life, but such is the case. I also care about the Miami Dolphins more than I do anything else and if I could trade naked girls for a Dolphins Super Bowl victory you would never see a boob on this website again. Luckily for you I cannot make such a trade.

Anyway, when the Dolphins come to NYC to play the New York Jets Dolfans NYC has to hold it down. This year we bought 71 tickets as a group and had a lot more coming. We threw a huge tailgate party and caused a ruckus despite losing the game. We also had two of our members beat the shit out of three Jets fans who started shit with them. It was pretty amazing considering I have never seen a away fan win a fight at a football game, much less do it without getting arrested.

Aside from the invasion of the Meadowlands and our tailgate we also threw an event at Third & Long the day before. Nat Moore, a Miami Dolphins legend, came to our bar to watch football with us. He signed autographs and posed for pictures and talked football. I know 95% of you on this site don’t care about things like that but it was a really cool event for our group. The Miami Dolphins video crew even came to the event and filmed us for the Inside The Fins TV show that is shown ever week in Miami. (I am interviewed in Episode 8 if you want to do some digging.)

So let’s get these photos up and get back to your normally scheduled Driven By Boredom madness!

Dylan Ryan

Hey kids, meet Dylan Ryan! She was visiting from San Francisco and hit me up about taking some naked photos as every attractive woman should do immediately when arriving in NYC. I have pretty much run out of locations but when she said she would be in Ft. Greene before our shoot it made me think to hit up my old friend DJ VH1 who just happens to have an amazing apartment not so far from there. He was down and it worked out great because there was tons of stuff in his kitchen to play with.

Dylan is pretty hilarious so I put her in the sink and she started trying to eat carrots and hang upside down from his crazy spiral staircase. All of this was great and I am sure you will love all the photos… not because the photos are life changing but just because I know you guys like nudity. We have plenty of nudity here. NSFW of course.

So click here to see all the very exciting naked photos of Dylan Ryan hanging out in DJ VH1’s kitchen!

The Joy Formidable And The Rest Of Fun Fun Fun

Finally we reach the end of our Fun Fun Fun coverage and it’s almost time to get back to normal Driven By Boredom life. I have a few random straggling posts to get up that are really old but I am sure I can find a time and place for them.  Gonna try to bring you guys some nudity tomorrow and some NYC stuff by Friday.

Anyway, to wrap things up I have a full gallery of the band The Joy Formidable and then a batch gallery filled with a few shots of EYEHATEGOD, Kool Keith, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists and Thee Oh Sees.  At Fun Fun Fun they had a three song rule for photographers and some of the sets started early so if you ran late at all for a set it was almost impossible to get shots. I ended up catching just a little bit of the bands I mentioned before I got kicked out of the photo pit and in the case of EYEHATEGOD I didn’t even make it to the photo pit despite the fact that I had just photographed four out of the five of them getting Sailor Jerry tattoos. They told me after I could have just come on stage with them but I clearly fucked that up.

The Joy Formidable was a band that I had heard only good things about so I checked them out for a second and I was mesmerized by the front woman’s stage presence. She plays guitar like she is in an air guitar contest whipping around the stage against this amazing Austin skyline background. Her being adorable didn’t hurt either.

Kool Keith is a fucking legend and wasn’t even on the schedule. I own about 5 of his albums and meeting him was a highlight of the festival for me. He seems as crazy as his music would suggest and talking to him felt like I was talking to a crazy homeless person who just happens to be really dynamic and an amazing rapper.

I have shot Ted Leo before and he always puts on a pretty good show for a guy who mostly just stands there with a guitar. He’s just a pretty impressive guy who evidently ended his set with a bunch Misfits covers after Danzig embarrassed himself the night before. I don’t even want to get into the Danzig Legacy thing but Ted Leo’s response was great.

Lastly Thee Oh Sees are a pretty amazing band. I saw them on a bridge at SXSW a few years ago and they fucking wrecked the place. People were climbing on poles and it is a testament to the Austin PD that no one got arrested. I only caught about one song from their set at Fun Fun Fun but if you get a chance to see them do it.

So that’s that. Good bye Fun Fun Fun Fest. Hopefully I will see you next year!

G Side & Childish Gambino @ Fun Fun Fun

I want to put all these Fun Fun Fun Fest posts to bed today so we are combining artists. In this post we group our two remaining hip hop artists together, G Side and Childish Gambino.

G Side came into the Sailor Jerry trailer to get tattoo appointments before their set so I decided it would be a good idea to check them out. I think it’s pretty hard for a rap group to put on a decent set during the day time but these guys got the crowd going and dropped an amazingly impressive 90 second a capella on the crowd. I bounced back to the trailer after that and the guys came in soon and got inked.

Childish Gambino AKA Donald Glover I have known for a while. We met back at SXSW and I have kept in touch with the guy. He’s good people, on one of the funniest shows on TV and I am a big fan of his music. When most comedians try to put out a rap album you can’t take it seriously but Childish Gambino isn’t telling jokes. He is fucking shit up. His new album Camp dropped yesterday and you should get that shit right away.

My Gambino shots kinda suck because they pulled me on stage to shoot which while it seemed awesome at the time was probably not the best place to shoot from. I ended up getting a bunch of shots of the back of Donald and some decent shots of his band, but it’s all good. I will get better ones next time.

Fucking Bullshit All Day

If you recall I front the world’s greatest punk cover band, Fucking Bullshit and while most cover bands are just for fun and kind of a joke, I take my band way too fucking seriously. I have wanted to be in a band my entire life and it turns out I am pretty good at it. I might not have any musical talent but I can put on a mother fucking show and to me that is 95% of live music. You may never get a chance to buy an album from us but we are pretty worth seeing. (And you can always get a T-shirt!) During the show at Lit I broke a bottle of beer, picked up part of the glass and cut my chest with it. I don’t enjoy pain and I have never cut myself before, but the ghosts of GG Allin and Darby Crash took hold. Who fucking knows what I will do for the next show

When it comes to having a band the best thing about being a photographer is that you have a lot of photographer friends. Two of my favorite photographers (both in quality of work and quality of people) brought their cameras to our recent show at Lit Lounge.

Steve Prue is a commercial photographer who also happens to shoot a lot of naked girls. He and I have shot so many of the same girls it’s not even funny. His portrait work is a lot better than mine, but he likes my event work better than his so we are somehow even. Great dude and great photographer. He dragged the hell out of his shutter and tried to get the hell out of my way and got some wild pictures from my show.

Tod Seelie is a guy that you never need to worry about him getting the hell out of the way. Tod has shot some of the craziest bands and events I have ever seen and does it better than anyone. For a guy who shoots mostly 20 something white people he puts himself in a lot of danger to get the shot. If you crossed a party photographer with a war photographer you would get Tod. I was an honor to have him shoot my band and post it on his website with all the other insane bands he shoots.

Tod’s best of shots can be found here and the entire gallery of images can be found over here. As far as Steve’s shots go I posted my favorites below and the rest you can find on the Fucking Bullshit Facebook page.

Thanks a lot to both of the guys and make sure to check out my favorite shots and a video of our “encore” below – Body Count’s legendary track “Cop Killer”.

Ps. Fucking Bullshit is playing again THIS SUNDAY at LuLu’s in Greenpoint. I don’t have the details but Like us on Facebook and you will be in the know!

Nobunny & Paint It Black @ Fun Fun Fun

Since more than a week has passed since Fun Fun Fun Fest it’s just time to get the rest of these pictures up. I am gonna do a few bands per post until we can move on to new content and some NYC parties and naked girls and all that lovely stuff that you guys enjoy so much.

Today I thought I would stick Nobunny and Paint It Black together because they both put on great fucking shows and are both at least somewhat punk rock. I plan on putting up pics from my punk bands show later today so I figure punk rock will be the theme of the day.

Nobunny was fucking awesome. I only saw the first three songs of their set but I became an instant fan. They are a rock and roll band with a punk rock attitude and a naked guy in a bunny mask for a lead singer. You cannot fuck with this.

Paint It Black are a hardcore band from Philly who put on an amazing show and gave me some karmic justice for my Odd Future support. Less than a week after defending Odd Future for slapping cameras during their show one of the members of Paint It Black kicked my camera. I sort of thought it was great and my camera was fine and I just jumped in the pit and kept shooting the band. I was fully on board until they dissed Texas BBQ but they were fun live so I won’t hold it against them.
