I used to date Kate Hate’s best friend so I know her pretty well. Kate is actually one of my favorite people to shoot cause she tends to be down for anything (She once flashed a guy at a bodega so he would give me a free Snapple) and she looks dead inside. It’s not to say that Kate isn’t pretty but I think it’s the sort of hatred she has with the world combined with a little old fashioned self hatred that makes her oh-so-sexy.  She is like my anti-muse and I mean that in a good way.

Kate is as you may know a Burning Angel and you can see much dirtier shots of her on there, but around here we keep it classy.  That’s why I shot her in the Happy Endings bathroom on Tuesday.  The first time I met her was at Happy Endings so it seemed very appropriate. Kate lives in Philly, but got snowed in and stuck in NYC for a few days so we had time to shoot.

Speaking of Snow, I got some pretty funny shots of two of my friends running around naked in the snow. I have shots of that, plus two other nude shoots to go up sooner or later, but I try to spread out the nudity, so you know how it is…

So you might have noticed things have been slow around here.  I am frantically trying to figure out my plans for South By Southwest and Winter Music Conference at the same time. On top of that I am trying to figure out plans for the 9th anniversary of drivenbyboredom.com, open a web store, sell prints and plan a show.

Well my SXSW plans are figured out mostly. I am shooting SXSW Music for Mog.com and the Village Voice.  I am also probably shooting SXSW Film and SXSW Interactive for the Voice but I am still looking for work in Austin during the Film/Interactive festival.  If you need a photographer in Austin before SXSW Music starts let me know.  I also might have a little time during Music, so if you have a one off event, let me know about that too.

Less figured out is my WMC plans.  Because it is so close to SXSW its much cheaper for me to fly straight from Austin to Miami.  So I am pretty much willing to make that trip without any work lined up because I always get offers at the last minute.  But I really need a place to stay on South Beach that week.  So if anyone has any hook ups for places to crash during WMC or some parties/events they need covered during that week, please let me know.

As far as the prints go, I just did a bunch of test prints and I am pretty close to ready to open my web store. The store is going to be up on March 1st, the 9th anniversary of this site.  One print is going to be available each month for $50, but to pay for the prints I am selling a preorder package of the first 6 months.  Its a pretty good deal and there are only a couple left, so if you have some money you might want to invest, these are going to be super rare collecters items if I start doing this every month with some sucess. And as always when I do a post with boring site updates and requests from my fan base, I wanted to give you something with some entertainment value.  My friends over at Pop Porn just came out with a Jersey Shore parody porn.  It looks fucking hilarious. It stars my friend Lexi Love and two of Burning Angels main fellas. James Deen plays Pauley D and Brian Street Team plays the guy who punches Snooki in the face. He steals the show. The trailer is on YouTube so its pretty much safe, but I probably wouldn’t watch it at work unless your boss has a good sense of humor.  Love that shit.

Roxy Cottontail’s Mondays at Sway party was pretty great last night.  I don’t normally love shooting at Sway because it is pretty far away from me and the walls are red so any bounce flash makes everything really muddy looking.  That being said last night was super fun and I got some good shots. I ended up staying until after 4am even though I got paid and could have left much earlier. Good times.

Yikes. Looks like I took a three day weekend. I accomplished nothing over the last three days and I am not super upset about it. I have my excuses and things to talk about (BBQ’d meat, Super Bowl, Caps hockey, etc), and I might get to them later, but for now I just want to give you some pictures that are a few days old.

I shot these photos at Trash at Webster Hall on Friday.  I don’t have a lot of things to say about them but there were a bunch of cute British girls and Mitchy C was hosting and brought out a bunch more cute girls. At that to the fact that South Park’s Satan got naked and my friend Sahra Starr took off her shirt and we have some sexy pics.

Tuesday was the two year anniversary of Disco Down. Disco Down is the slightly younger upstairs party to 66Sick downstairs at Happy Endings. Both of them have seen better days.  The winter and snow is not helping anything.

The two year anniversary featured a birthday party for Andy Rourke of the Smiths and Michael T hosted. I was only there for about an hour and I only took about 50 photos, but it was pretty fun. There were a lot of rad people there despite how few people were there… Plus they were playing Resavoir Dogs downstairs.

Driven By Boredom is all me. I take all the photos, I write all the posts and other than the occasional bit of help from a drug addict an intern, it’s all the work of one person.  But today a story came a long so great that I decided I had to have a guest.

Mike Nouveau is a DJ.  He was a Ruff Kid, he threw M at Darkroom and now he spins at Avenue when he is not gallivanting around Europe.  Mike is also not a nice guy.  A lot of people hate him and probably for good reason.  His absolute hatred directed at 95% of the human population is exactly why I like him so much.  The guy is clearly fantastic.

Anyway, a few days ago Mike was in Amsterdam when a burglar tried to steal his laptop. I followed the whole thing live as he Tweeted his tale from the hospital where he was trying to glue his missing toenail back on, but I will let him tell the story…

Hey, I just wanted to share this poorly photographed street style video with you.  I probably should blog about fashion more often than I do since I know a lot of people come here to see what the kids in NYC are rocking, but I rarely do.  This video has nothing to do with what the kids in NYC are wearing, but what the kids in Richmond, VA are getting into.  As you may know I lived in Richmond for 5 years and still have a lot of friends there.   One of those, my friend Roberto is working for the school newspaper of my alma mater (VCU) called the Commonwealth Times. He called me the other day to see if he could get a track from the band I managed called The Gaskets for one of their street style videos.  The song on the video is called Structure Fire and the band broke up before it was ever released.  However, you can hear a demo of the full song on their defunct myspace page.

So pretty regularly I get people offering to either pay me to blog about some product or offer to send me free stuff to blog about. Once in a while I take them up on their offer, but usually I tend to turn it down.  People usually don’t want to pay me enough to clutter up my site.  You might have noticed this site is pretty much ad free. I’m always open to offers, but nothing has really made a lot of sense to me yet.

Plain Vita Coco is all coconut juice which is super amazing.  I can get a can of coconut water at my Bodega for a dollar, but they add so much water to it, and then to counter balance that they add sugar and it becomes pretty gross. I would drink Vita Coco all the time except its like $2 for an 110z box of it, although I noticed at Walgreens the price went down to $1.50.  I hope that is a trend, I would buy a lot more of this stuff if it was a bit cheaper.

I am pretty sure when I was 10 I had a clown at my birthday party.  And maybe at some point I had a magician.  Notorious pornographer photographer and total babe Ellen Stagg threw a Circus themed birthday last night with a magician, a strong man, tarot cards readings, a sexy lion tamer routine and naked Penthouse Pets.  It was pretty exciting and very Not Safe For Work.

Ellen is an amazing photographer.  You should check out her website as it has many sexy ladies and rad photography on it.  I am a pretty big fan. It’s clear I am not her only fan as downstairs of Lit was packed with family and friends of Ms. Stagg. There were several amazing acts as well as in between DJing provided by Trouble & Bass’ own the Captain.

The night started off with a strongman called The Crusher.  He was assisted by the lovely Burning Angel Ariel. Ariel is one of my favorite people on Earth and last night she gave me her new business card that had about 10 jobs listed on it from fitness instructor to go go dancer to laser tattoo remover. No where did it mention anything about being used as a free weight for a strong man, but that was pretty impressive none the less.

After the Crusher & Ariel came the adorable Justine Jolie playing a lion as Ellen Stagg managed to tame her.  There was whipping and nudity and sexiness all around.  It was pretty hot.  Justine pretty damn amazing.  You should check her website out if you wanna see her do more than just take off her lion costume…

The next act was a magician named Matt the Magician Holtzclaw. Now, I generally hate magic.  I don’t see how you can’t. Magicians are self righteous and they try to trick you.  I mean they are basically lying to people for a living, and acting like you should be amused by their shenanigans.  I take a stand against magic.  However, Matt was actually pretty amazing.  He did some quick sligh of hand that involved smoking and drinking, he did some really gross stuff with some string and he talked his wife into pulling her boobs out.  I am not sure how anyone couldn’t get behind that. I actually talked to Matt and his wife for quite some time and they were really rad people too…

The final act was possibly the best, it was certainly the most jaw dropping.  Penthouse Pet Ryan Keely did a three or four song burlesque number that climaxed with her pulling out a bottle of lotion and spraying the whole thing all over herself.  She poured like half of the bottle into her mouth and spit it all over the place.  It made for some pretty insane photos.  I talked to her after the show as well and she seems to be a really rad chick.  We talked about shooting some pictures of her in the future.  I hope that happens as she is kinda a babe as you might have noticed. All in all it was a rad party and I met a bunch of cool people and got a very weird assortment of business cards.  My 30th birthday is coming up soon and I only hope it can be half as wild as Ellen’s but I will do my damnedest.  Anyway, a big happy birthday once again to Ellen, and if you want to see all the crazy pictures you should most assuredly click here.
