Happy Endings – 5.5.09

It was Swine Flu night meets Drinko De Mayo at Happy Endings.  Disco Down upstairs was giving out masks and they had Swine Flu fighting bubble guns.  Down stairs at Six Six Sick people were doing their best to get wasted and celebrate Mexican Independence until someone (who will remain nameless) puked all over the DJ booth.  There were some fights, some interesting appearances, and Sophia Lamarr told me I was very heterosexual.  It was a fun night, but I didn’t shoot much because I was hanging out with my friend Teddy and kept my camera up till he left, but I have to tell you, I never thought bubbles would be so much fun to photograph….

Check out all the photos here.

I just saw this, and I must clarify that cinco de mayo is not the independence day on Mexico, like most people think.

cinco de mayo commemorates the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the ‘Battle of Puebla” in 1862. This was in the best interest U.S. at the time and that’s the reason why cinco de mayo is celebrated here. Most people don’t know that. Like you. Heh.

Strangely I just had this conversation with my friend Ibi about this. She said the real day to celebrate is when you beat the Spanish. Frankly, I just like the sound of Drinko De Mayo, and I like playing the role of ignorant American. So if you are gonna judge, go back to Mexico! or not… whatever works..
