ARG

My website is pissing me off.  I can’t upload stuff proper.  I have like 3 galleries to go up today but they didn’t.  I will just put an ass load of shit up tomorrow.

I spent the last 2 hours watching episode’s of Tom Green’s new internet/tv show.  I think you should spend from now until whenever I update again watching it.

Watch him tattoo Kat Von D.

Sansa/Dim Mak/BPM Product Wall

So the main reason I was hired to cover this event in Texas was to get pictures of bands and notable people standing in front of a wall. These are called product walls or “step and repeat” walls. These photos are then sent to the sponsors for marketing purposes and such.  I did this at Sundance and I am doing it again in Miami.  It is not the most creative photography, but it is actually pretty fun.

Anyway, there are roughly 10,000 bands in these photos and you can figure out who they are for yourself.

Aveeno Sunblock Lotion Shots

One of the sponsors of my SXSW gig was Aveeno. I was asked to get a few shots of people using it. I sort of got carried away. I shot three people:

  • My old roommate Michael Kristoph who I stayed with the whole time and who showed me my new obsession and makes fucking amazing videos and music.
  • My friend Biet from New York who is in a band called World War who played and were delightful.
  • One of the life guards at the Elk Lodge pool.

I do have to say that I did not even get slightly burned. Points to Aveeno. Check out all the photos here.

Sansa Playground Crowd Shots

If you were at this event and I gave you a card you are probably in this gallery. I took so many photos of people hanging out that I am going to post a lot of photos below this description. These are all the photos that don’t have people riding the mechanical bull, trying to ring a bell with a giant mallet hanging out in the VIP lounge or playing with squirt guns… those will come later! So, short description, lots of photos.

High Voltage – 3.19.08

So I hosted a party for the first time in a while and it was a lot of fun. It seems every party I have ever hosted has been a lot of fun. I am not sure if this is coincidental or if it is just because a bunch of my friends are there, but I had a lot of fun either way. I met these insane girls from New Orleans who were fun and danced with them more than I normally ever do. I met this Russian professional dancer who told me she was on Dancing With The Stars once but then I turned my back on her and she disappeared. I convinced Dennis not to fight some drunk guy who stole his shot. I also don’t think you care about any of this, so I am just going to show you the pictures and you can move on to something more interesting on the internets.

Update: Broken link is fixed.

The Roxy At SXSW – 3.13.08

The Roxy in LA had a SXSW party that was part of the Sansa Playground event, but it was upstairs and indoors and at night. A bunch of Fools Gold label DJs spun like Jokers of the Scene and Nick Catchdubs. It was Danny Masterson’s birthday (aka DJ Mom Jeans) and he and Steve Aoki spun. Killa Kela beat boxed and rapped a short set. Black Ghosts also DJ’d but my camera batteries were dying on me (I took 1300 photos that day) and I only got a few shots at the end. I think there are some pretty good ones in here though. Dig them.

Hanson – 3.14.08

Fucking Hanson. Are you kidding me? When we saw they were on the Sansa Playground bill everyone was sort of laughing about it. I was hanging out in the VIP area and we were all joking about how we had to see Hanson because it was going to be so funny. A few songs in they are covering Bill Withers and I find my self singing a long and realizing they were fucking awesome. One of the guys who was joking about them was talking about how they just completely blew him away and how he wanted to quit music because he would never be as good as they were. I am not sure if I liked them so much because I expected them to suck, or because they were actually that good, but I will tell you that they were my favorite act I saw at SXSW and that I keep telling people about them.

Also they recorded their record before the MmmBop one at the same studio the Gaskets record at so we know some of the same people. They were cool guys and we talked a bunch and I got to tell them about the time I had my first one night stand and I was having sex with this girl and I looked down and she had a Hanson tramp stamp tattoo. I told the guys about it and they got a kick out of it.

Also, there were like 100 cute 19 year old hipster chicks who showed up just to see them so that was fun… and no they didn’t do MmmBop. Check the photos here.

Shwayze – 3.13.08

Shwayze is Cisco Adler, Dj Skeet Skeet and a dude appropriately named Shwayze. I met Shwayze and Cisco at Sundance this year and got a long with them better than any of the other celebs I had to take pictures of. I was glad to see them on the bill at SXSW. They remembered me and we took a bunch of photos and hung out in the little VIP area. I got to see them play this time and they were actually pretty awesome. I will defiantly be checking them out next time they come to NYC. Also… Skeet and I seem to have a lot of friends in common. I can’t place where but I know I have run into that dude before.

Check out their live shots here.
