When I heard that my friend Angel Beau just happened to be feature dancing in Dayton, OH just 90 minutes from the Gathering of the Juggalos I got really excited. She hit me up to let me know that she was going to be performing with the LA based sideshow crew Freakshow Deluxe. Angel is one of my favorite humans and I was excited I got to show her the weirdness that is the Gathering of the Juggalos.

I am trying to get as many photos as possible up before I leave town so I am going to make this quick but I just wanted to give you a quick breakdown of some of the acts in order so if you are looking at the massive gallery of images you can follow along. They came out with a group grinding act followed by a blockhead act and then into walking/jumping on broken glass. There was an escape artist act which is always really fun followed by Angel walking on knives which I saw her do with the Suicide Sirens ages ago. After that reverend Tommy Gun lifted a heavy chandelier with his ears, nipples and, I swear to god, his penis. It was covered for most of the show but there was a horrifying reveal quickly that I missed photographing. Next Miss Malice swallowed a balloon, there was a bed of nails act involving another photographer, and more painful feats involving animal traps. Let’s see what else? There was a whip act which is pretty scary up close and a human pin cushion act which always freaks people out. And then the act ended with some fire eating and possibly my favorite part when Tommy Gunn attached a bunch of fireworks to his stomach and set them off. I think I still have some shrapnel in my eye. That’s it.

The penultimate episode of my Route 66 web series Road Strip came out yesterday almost exactly a year after I released my Route 66 book Get Your Kicks. It stars Coco Velvett and Angel Beau. After the last episode I had to drop Ash Hollywood off in Vegas, which isn’t on Route 66 but only a few hours north. I had been staying in terrible motels for the last two weeks so I decided I would take a quick break at a nice hotel in Vegas and hang out in the pool for two days.

I hit up my pal Angel and she happened to be hanging out with Coco who I had been trying to photograph for years but shit kept not working out. I shot both of them in my hotel room and then we hung out at the pool all night. It was a pretty good time. I didn’t have a model planned for my last leg of Route 66 and Coco needed a ride to LA so it worked out and I took her with me.

The drive to LA is only four hours from Vegas but once we hit Barstow and got back on Route 66 the trip took a lot longer than that. We hit some cool spots like the Bottle Tree Ranch and the Wigwam Motel in San Bernardino and I also shot her at the World’s Tallest Thermometer in Baker which while not on Route 66 is still one of my favorite roadside attractions.

The shoot I did with Coco I decided to make exclusively available on the Girls of Driven By Boredom app. It’s a small set to begin with and some of the images are a bit graphic for this site, so I just uploaded everything in high resolution to the app. So you need it if you want to see the pictures. Also, there are a bunch of unpublished photos of Coco and Angel in the super limited What Happens in Vegas photo album print series I did.

Not Safe For Work Week has been slightly delayed by my exciting adventures in Memphis but it’s still going down. Yesterday I went to Graceland, Sun Records, several delicious eateries, watched the ducks march at the Peabody Hotel and saw a playoff basketball game. It was pretty epic. But that’s not important now. What is important is Angel Beau.

I have photographed Angel a bunch of times and I even photographed her sideshow burlesque troop. She is one of my favorite ladies and I hang out with her pretty much every time I am in Vegas. She was out of town when I was there the other weekend sadly but last summer I got to hang out with her and Coco Velvett when I took a quick detour off Route 66. I had been on the road for more than two weeks at that point and decided to drive a couple hours north to Vegas to relax in a nice hotel and chill by the pool for a couple days before getting back on 66 and continuing my road trip.

For someone who is not a big fan of burlesque I seem to shoot a lot of it but for once I was looking forward to it. When I was in Vegas for the AVN Awards I not only got a chance to check out my friend Angel Beau’s sideshow burlesque troop called the Suicide Sirens but I got paid for it! I pitched the idea of doing a story on them to Hustler Magazine and I shot portraits and behind the scenes shots of Angel and her Siren pals Chelsea La Vone and Jesabella Marie. The back stage stuff was fully nude and a lot of fun and Chelsea’s mom was there which was kinda awesome and slightly creepy at the same time. My favorite line of the night was “Chelsea you promised me you wouldn’t shoot nudes, but at least I am here for it.” Classic mom!

After the photo shoot I stuck around for the show and photographed their insane performance for you guys! They mix burlesque with sideshow and in Jessabella’s case contortion and it’s pretty rad. Since it was AVN Week it was hosted by porn ladies Shay Lynn and Eliza Allure. Also my friend Felony Melanie from the Objex was randomly there and sang and got naked for me backstage for the Hustler article. Highlights of the performance included Jesabella’s strip contortions on broken glass, Shay Lynn’s flaming sword act, Chelsea’s painful mouse trap act and Angel in a giant hamster ball. They also hit internet gold with naked girls in Darth Vader and Hello Kitty masks which is obviously very important plus they let people staple dollar bills to them which makes for entertaining everything.

Anyway, just go look at the photos and I will shut up and go back to whatever the hell I am doing today and be on the look out for a bunch of naked photos of all the babes in an upcoming Hustler Magazine!

The first time I shot Angel Beau it was in Vegas in her hotel room. The place was really ugly and a terrible location for a shoot. I think Angel is really awesome looking and was a ton of fun to shoot with so I wanted to shoot her again in a better spot. She came to NYC a couple of months ago and somehow she found this creepy warehouse only a few blocks from my apartment for us to shoot in. There was almost no light in there but I cranked my ISO and shot the whole thing at 1.4 and we managed to get some awesome shots in pretty much the dark.

I went out of town right after we shot and I forgot how much I loved these until I looked at them again last night. I hope you dig them as much as I do. I met Angel Beau at the Vegas isanyoneup.com party. I took her photo and gave her a card and when she looked at it she told me she was a fan and had been wanting to shoot with me for ages. She was a pretty bad ass chick and so clearly I wanted to shoot with her. I ended up hanging out with her and her Vegas roommate Samantha Bentley a lot that weekend.

Angel had me come over to her and Sam’s room at Terrible’s Casino which is easily the most depressing place I have ever been. The room sucked as a location and I was not really into it but on the plus side Samantha was having webcam sex with her boyfriend back in the UK while we were shooting so at least the room had some ambience.

Angel and I ended up shooting in what was sort of a closet without a door. I put her in my jean vest that my dude Sharktoof painted when I was in Miami for Art Basel. Angel looks pretty fucking bad ass in it but I don’t really love these photos cause they are shot with a flash in a hotel room. Luckily for all of us Angel is visiting New York next month and I just happend to be in NYC for exactly 24 hours while she is here so we are going to shoot again in a MUCH better location. It should be fucking awesome.
