Shwayze is Cisco Adler, Dj Skeet Skeet and a dude appropriately named Shwayze. I met Shwayze and Cisco at Sundance this year and got a long with them better than any of the other celebs I had to take pictures of. I was glad to see them on the bill at SXSW. They remembered me and we took a bunch of photos and hung out in the little VIP area. I got to see them play this time and they were actually pretty awesome. I will defiantly be checking them out next time they come to NYC. Also… Skeet and I seem to have a lot of friends in common. I can’t place where but I know I have run into that dude before.

Be Kind Rewind is the new film from Michel Gondry. It is about a video store clerk (Mos Def) who has a moronic friend (Jack Black) who accidentally erases all the movies. So they start making new movies themselves based on the erased movies. For those who insanely don’t know who Michel Gondry he is the man who directed Eternal Sunshine On The Spotless Mind. He is probably the most brilliant living film director who’s name is not Werner Herzog. That being said, Be Kind Rewind meanders. It drops some random plot points and a number of things don’t make sense. (For example, the movies they make are called Sweded versions, but no reason what so ever is given for that.) It is not exactly the best story telling on earth. Gondry is probably a much stronger director than he is a writer (this is the second film he has written, his last film, Science Of Sleep he also wrote, while his first two films were written by Charlie Kaufman. Anyway, the amazingness of the film more than makes up for it. It is extremely funny, completely inventive and overwhelmingly touching. Mos Def is sort of incredible playing a roll that is not only very out of character for him, but very different from any character I have seen anyone play. I had read some slightly negative reviews of it so I went in with slightly lowered expectations, but I have to say it blew me away and I was almost in tears at some points. Also, Danny Glover played the store owner and while I was not overwhelmed by his performance or anything, I did meet him and he was extremely nice.

After 5 years at Rififi Trash moved to Home Sweet Home. The opening party was last week but I was at Sundance. I had fun, but it was a completely different crowd. So much of the weekend warrior B&T downtown crowd. It was also way too crowded. Both these problems could be solved with a stricter door policy. I have never been one for faux-exclusivity, but I think the party would be way better off if they kept out some people. Sorry for being an elitist prick. Also there were like 5 photo bloggers in a reasonably small space. It was kinda annoying. I don’t really like shooting people who were just photographed 5 seconds earlier by someone else. I actually shot pretty poorly and then left and went to Robot Rock where there were another 5 photo bloggers… I didn’t even break out my camera there. It makes me want to quit. I am going to be back in New York at 9AM tomorrow morning. I have a ton of weird photos to go up, but I have had no time to deal with them. I have been pretty busy and in a room full of like 20 people at all times. It is sort of hard to get work done. I left my sleeping pills in LA so last night I woke up like every 20 minutes. It is sort of amazing that I got any sleep at all. With the altitude, lack of sleep and my allergies I feel absolutely horrible. It is so weird to be here because I don’t know anyone in Hollywood and I don’t know how to get into any parties. I just randomly walked the street, but I did run into my friend Joe Swanberg who is covering Sundance for Myspace. He is a reasonably respected director and couldn’t really get into any parties either. The two of us and a bunch of his friends sort of ran around doing nothing and they went to hang out at their place and I went home and tried to sleep. Anyway, this is sort of unexciting, but I did meet Danny Glover. Check out one of Joe’s videos below.

I just spent the last 20 minutes driving around LA trying to find a WIFI network that was open.  I am currently sitting in a CVS parkinglot killing an hour before I have to pick up a friend of mine from LAX.  We are going out dancing somewhere I think.  I may or may not have pictures for you in the near future. Anyway…

Celebrating the one year anniversary of the Pull-Out Method party at Midway (Ave B between 2nd and 3rd) the Gaskets are going to be playing.  It is going to rule and I hope you guys show up.  Unfortunately I am going to be at Sundance and I am going to miss the show, but I think you will have a dancing good time if you go.  They are going on at 11 so you can still go out after.  Trust me, you will have a lot of fun.

Fuck yes.  It is now 2:30PM.  I stayed up all night working on updates for this site so that when I am gone, even if I can’t get to the computer I won’t miss a beat.  You get AT LEAST one post a day.  A new video post every day that I am gone.  Most of this trip I don’t know what I am doing or where I am staying.  I am traveling alone and I don’t really have any places to stay exactly secured.  Here are my plans or lack of:

Tomorrow at noon I get on a plane and travel to Las Vegas for the Adult Video News Awards… the only problem is I don’t have tickets to the awards or any passes to the trade shows or anything.   I also have very little money.  I am staying in a hotel because the Circus Circus is only $37 a night which I am sure is going to be one of the weirdest places I have ever had to sleep.  I have some parties I’ve been asked to shoot but I don’t know what the parking situation is like in Vegas as I have never been.  I just have this idea that it is going to cost me $25 dollars every time I need to move my rental car.  I don’t really know how I am going to get around and I don’t know anyone who lives in town…

Then after a weird weekend in Vegas I am driving to LA and staying… um… I have no idea where I am staying.  I am just going to map quest Vegas to LA and hope I can find someone to stay with.  I have talked to a few people who said they would let me crash, but who fucking knows.  I have made plans with a bunch of Gods Girls to take naked photos of them, and I have lunch dates with Maddox and a bunch of people I haven’t seen in years, but I can’t even get my best friend to call me back about sleeping on his couch for a day or two.  I am probably going to end up sleeping in my compact rental car!  I am positive I am going to get lost and into an accident driving in LA.  Can’t wait!

Then the scariest part of my trip I am going to Park City, UT for Sundance… The thing is, I have no idea why.  This guy who I don’t know suggested he might be able to get me some photo opportunities so I just booked a flight.   I just happen to know this girl slightly (I’ve met her twice) who told me she would let me sleep at her house in Salt Lake City and drive me to Park City.  So I am counting on two people I barely know completely.  If they fall though I have no idea what I am going to do.  I also have no passes to Sundance or anything, I am just going to wonder and maybe wait in a long ass line for tickets to something.  Then it is back to NYC and real life.

I know it is sort of bullshit to go on a vacation when you don’t really have job, but when I get back I am going to have to get a day job because I am running out of money.  This site is like a job, I spend 30 hours a week on it or so, but it pays very fucking little.   I am sure I am going to have a lot less time for this job when I get back, so this adventure better get me a lot of content.  I am sure it is going to be a disaster, but I can’t wait.

I just wanted to mention to everyone that I just booked my plane tickets to go to Las Vegas for the Adult Video News Awards and shoot a few parties, then I am driving to LA for 5 days and then I am going to fly to Salt Lake City and hang out at Sundance for a few days and try to shoot some movie stars and watch a few movies.  I probably wont get a chance to update a lot when I am gone, but I am going to set up automatic updates so that at noon every day there is going to be something weird up.  That way even if I don’t get to a computer there will still be stuff for you to look at.  Anyway, I will be in Vegas on the 10-12th, LA on the 13-17th and Park City, UT from the 18-21st.  So if you are going to be around for any of that hit me up.  I am going to be looking to take as many pictures as possible.  I need advice on what parties to shoot in LA and I need to know what to do during the day in Vegas other than gamble.   See you there.
