Not too long ago I shot a bunch of behind the scenes photos for my friends’ TV show on FXX and I realized how much I enjoyed doing it. I have shot a bunch of BTS on films in the past and it’s a great blend of portraits and documentary and it’s usually already well lit which is nice. I’ve always enjoyed hanging out on sets as well so it’s something I want to make more of an effort to shoot in the future so when my friend Crazy Legs Conti, the infamous competitive eater, reached out to me about casting some girls for his new short film, I asked him if I could come by for a couple hours and take some photos just to have more of that stuff in my portfolio. 

Yesterday they were filming most of the day at a bar called Professor Thom’s in the East Village. I stopped by pretty late in their filming and got to capture a couple scenes and eat some free pizza. The short is super low budget and they filmed everything without lights so I was working with basically just the light coming in the wind0ws. Not the ideal situation, but the kinda one I am very used to given my hatred for studio lighting. The low budget also mean that they actually shot about 5 seconds of the film on my camera while they were dumping footage from the main camera so that was fun. 

I have literally no idea what the movie is about, but it involves Millard Fillmore and Buffalo wings and there is an animated hallucination involved. Plus there is some mild nudity which is of course why Crazy Legs hit me up for the casting. There is almost no nudity in the photos that I shot but there is a tiny bit so you’ve been warned. Then again, if you are on my site you probably aren’t looking at this at work anyway.
