Meet Lil’ Brown Eyes

Back in January I was in LA for my friend’s wedding. When it ended I drove across town to some house party to see the band Ho99o9 play. I was still wearing a suit and pretty much destroyed the only pair of dress shoes I own in the mosh pit. It was a good time.

After the show I met a girl named Skuzi aka Lil’ Brown Eyes. It came up that I was going to the AVN Awards and she happened to be going too. She was doing make up for a bunch of the girls and she asked me if I knew who Ryan Gosling was. “Yes, I am aware of Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Gosling.” “No, not Ryan Gosling… Bryan Gozzling!” I had no idea what the fuck she was talking about but apparently she was in some sort of wild daddy/baby relationship with a new male porn dude named Bryan Gozzling. She then proceeded to show me all sorts of insanely fucked up photos of them on her Twitter.

A couple days later as I was checking into the Hard Rock in Vegas I saw them again. I sort of pointed over to them and showed the people I was with the crazy shit that they were all about on their Twitter. Even porn people thought it was nuts. Most of the weekend Bryan walked her around on a leash and they were sort of all anyone could talk about.

I ended up hanging out with them a lot that week and I am sort of a huge fan of  both of them and am totally intrigued by their next level relationship. Psyched for the next time that I get to hang out with these two…

The night before the AVN Awards I ended up photographing Lil’ Brown Eyes in their hotel bathroom and then afterwards I took some insane photos of Bryan tying her up and basically torturing her until she squirted all over the floor. It was both horrifying and completely adorable. I really only planned on posting the set of Skuzi and I just sent them the other photos but I decided maybe I should put up as an exclusive Girls of Driven By Boredom gallery. I figured maybe some people would pay $5.99 or however much Girls of DBB costs to see them.

So yeah, there are two sets. One terribly light balanced but pretty awesome set of Lil’ Brown Eyes in her hotel bathroom and then another, much larger set of her getting tied up on Girls of DBB. There’s also a handful of extras from the bathroom set on Girls of DBB too. I gotta keep my subscribers happy somehow…

So click here to see the NSFW bathroom photos of Lil’ Brown Eyes and then go to Girls of DBB for the insane set of her and Bryan Gozzling!

Best Of 2011

For a while I was spending hours a day going through every photo I have ever taken but at some point I stopped. I think I just got busy or something but the other day I started the project up again. The idea is to pull all my favorite images of all time into one place so it’s easier to find stuff and easier to put together some sort of portfolio page which I don’t actually have. I finally finished 2011 so I wanted to give you guys some of the highlights.

2011 was a good year. It was the first year I started working for Sailor Jerry and I got to shoot a bunch of fun stuff for them back when we were doing music festivals almost every weekend it seems. Lolapalooza, Fun Fun Fun and Voodoo Fest were some of the highlights. I had a Ryan Gosling/ Big Freedia photo go viral at Fun Fun Fun and an Odd Future set at Voodoo made national news after they attacked some photographers and I decided to defend them.

Lots of other great festivals that year including the first Four Knots festival, Mad Decent Block Party and of course SXSW. I photographed an Insane Clown Posse cruise and went to the Kentucky Derby with Prince Terry & Dances With White Girls. I was on stage for Wu-Tang and shot Slayer for the first time and spent more time with Major Lazer, TV On The Radio and the Black Lips than is reasonable. I shot Nicki Minaj and Britney Spears and I even shot a Sweet 16 party that Usher showed up at.

2011 was the year of Occupy Wall Street and I photographed the party at Ground Zero when Osama Bin Laden was finally killed.

I went on a cross country road trip with someone I had met twice. I photographed the woman that I would date for two years for the first time. I started a punk band and photographed babes in our t-shirts. I went to Art Basel and the AVN Awards and photographed a ton of naked women everywhere.

Honestly I am getting bored of writing this but there are a lot of celebrities and naked people and the general madness you might expect from my blog. Just go look at the pictures. There are a LOT of them. NSFW obviously.

2015 SXSW Film Red Carpet

Still trying to get up all this SXSW stuff but doing my taxes sort of interrupted my life yesterday but let’s switch gears to SXSW Film for a minute. I have three SXSW Film updates and I want to get one up today, tomorrow and Monday and all the SXSW should be wrapped up by Monday or Tuesday and then I have a pretty awesome set of my friend Erica to go up shortly after that. So keep checking back. Lot’s of stuff to lurk.

Today I want to give you probably my least favorite update from SXSW, but the one with the largest amount of famous people in it… SXSW Film red carpet photos. I really can’t stand photographing people on a giant wall of advertising but I would rather do that and shoot the shit with fellow photographers than stand in line for the movies. Plus people seem to like red carpet photos for some insane reason. I completely half assed this stuff, but enjoy looking at mediocre photos of celebrities anyway.

I shot the red carpets for Hello My Name Is Doris, Fresno, Lost River, Love & Mercy, Spy, and Wild Horses. Probably the coolest for me was getting to photograph Brian Wilson and John Cusack on the Love & Mercy step and repeat. Also shooting Sally Field was great because not only is she a legend but she seems like the nicest human ever. Shooting Robert Duvall is always amazing but I have now shot him three times off the red carpet, three times on the red carpet and I got hired to shoot the after party for Wild Horses so I’ve got plenty of Duvall shots, or as I know call him “Bobby”. Just kidding, he still terrifies me.

Okay, go enjoy your Saturday but quickly lurk my red carpet shots. Be back tomorrow with the Wild Horses after party pictures!

SXSW Day 1 – 3.14.15

My SXSW trip got off to an interesting start when I got to the airport and they needed volunteers to fly a day late. I didn’t have too much going on Friday and they were offering a ton of money so I took it and left on Friday instead of Thursday. That meant I got to sleep in a bed one more day and go with my lady to get Friday the 13th tattoos in NYC. When I go to Austin Friday night my friend Keith Underwood was still doing HIS Friday the 13th tattoo and I got a second one. Two in one day. Not bad.

I had some catching up to do and the film fest was in full swing. I ended up shooting portraits of the cast/crew of seven films and I shot three red carpets.

I started out shooting the Ross brothers, directors of the documentary Western who I had missed on Friday because of my delayed flight. After that I shot Judith Godrèche and Jason Schwartzman for the film The Overnight and shot the cast of Creative Control in the street across from their premier at the Ritz. Creative Control starred two musicians I run into all the time, Reggie Watts and the homie Heems formerly of Das Racist.

Heems and I both needed our SXSW badges so he and I hit the convention center and then I shot some more photos of him before I left him to go visit my friends at Indie PR to grab shots of three of their movies Ava’s Possessions, Excess Flesh and Lamb.

From there I hit the press junket for The Final Girls and got to shoot the director and a ton of the cast in the bar/restaurant behind where they were doing press interviews. It was quite the challenge to find eight different looks in a restaurant with almost no natural light but fortunately the cast was made up of nothing but hilarious and/or pretty people. Seriously, it was an impressive group of people.

After that I was done with my set up shoots and hit the red carpets. I went over to the premier of Michael Showalter’s new movie Hello, My Name Is Doris. It starred Sally Field and she seems like the nicest human ever. After the carpet I left to say hi to my brother and when I came back 20 minutes later she was still outside signing autographs. I didn’t get to see the movie because I had to head to the Fresno red carpet. I didn’t want to shoot the carpet so much as just see the movie since I have a shoot scheduled with them this morning. The film was great and starred nothing but hilarious babes in Judy Greer, Natasha Lyonne and Aubrey Plaza. More on that tomorrow.

Lastly I ended the night shooting the red carpet for Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut Lost River and then eating a massive amount of Taco Bell and heading back to my buddies couch to edit pictures and write this stuff that you are reading right now.

I have (at least) four films and two red carpets today plus I get to see A Wonderful Cloud which was edited by my little brother and hero Benjamin Moses Smith.  Got some good stuff coming so get excited.

Here are some shots from the day. More will be posted on my Tumblr…

Big Freedia & Spank Rock @ Fun Fun Fun

One of the only bad things about shooting Voodoo fest a few weekends ago was that I had to miss the “Check Yo Ponytail” tour when it came to NYC on the 29th of October. The tour featured a bunch of friends of mine, The Death Set, Spank Rock, Johnny Nelson and Franki Chan, plus it featured Big Freedia who I had not seen but was properly excited about doing so. Unfortunately work called and I had to be out of town for it. Luckily for me part most of the tour came to Austin for Fun Fun Fun Fest and I got to see Franki, Spank Rock, Johnny and Big Freedia do what they do.

Big Freedia killed it and put on a hell of a show but the light was unforgiving and I only got to shoot her first three songs. By the middle of the set she had half the crowd on stage and it was a crazy party but I had to be working somewhere else by the time things really got going and I only saw the madness from a distance. Big Freedia did make my day when she showed Ryan Gosling her new Sailor Jerry tattoo and my photos showed up all over the internet.

Spank Rock and Johnny Nelson also got Sailor Jerry tattoos and put on a hell of a show as well but I expected that since I have seen Spank Rock more than a half dozen times. He always kills it and with my homie Johnny Nelson backing him up, he cannot be fucked with. Those guys killed it and even though they kicked photographers out after three songs when they performed Johnny’s track “Body Bag” I came running back into the crowd to sing along. Of course I gotta hold it down for anyone with my logo tattooed to them

Anyway, you need to check out these shots, I really dig the Spank Rock photos particularly. I split these into to galleries so click on those motherfuckers below.

Major Lazer @ Fun Fun Fun

So after Major Lazer’s show at Voodoo Fest and the tattooing that followed I made a new friend out of their insane hype man Skerrit Bwoy. He is one of the best live performers I have ever seen and a hell of a nice guy. He also really likes it when we give him bottles of Sailor Jerry rum. During the first song of Major Lazer’s Fun Fun Fun Fest set Skerrit Bwoy saw me in the photo pit and pulled me up onto stage with him and gave me a shout out to the crowd. I wasn’t planning on shooting their whole set but once I was on stage I clearly couldn’t leave and boy am I glad I stayed.

Major Lazer’s set ended with a crazy dance party and Skerrit Bwoy was posing for photos with girls on stage while he was still performing. Diplo had only one CD turntable but still managed to keep the party going. Ryan Gosling was on stage holding a inflatable bunny and I somehow convinced Skerrit Bwoy to do an a cappella stage dive after the show was already over just so I could take a picture of it. It is one of my favorite shots ever and ended up running on the Huffington Post and in the Village Voice in print.

That night I rolled with Skerrit Bwoy, my Sailor Jerry mother Dana Dynamite, half the Black Lips and some more of the Mad Decent crowd over to the greatest restaurant I have ever been to in my life, Lambert’s in Austin. If you are ever in Austin, you need to fucking eat there. It was a Hell of a Saturday night and it wasn’t even midnight yet. The next night Skerrit had gone home but I got into some really weird shit with Diplo that I can’t even talk about… but I can at least link this video…

Now just click fucking here and see the pictures of Major Lazer at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, TX.

Sailor Jerry Tattoos At Fun Fun Fun

For the second weekend in a row I found myself at a music festival in an airstream trailer watching bands get Sailor Jerry tattoos. At the Voodoo Fest in New Orleans we tattooed members of Fishbone, Major Lazer, Peelander Z, TV on the Radio and Boots Electric. This time at Fun Fun Fun in Austin we tattooed Big Freedia, Spank Rock, Johnny Nelson, members of Passion Pit, G-Side, Paint It Black and nearly everyone in EYEHATEGOD.

Big Freedia was a highlight, not only because she got a hilarious tattoo but because later when she was talking to Ryan Gosling she showed him it and I got a picture and it blew up all over the internet and made my client very happy and ultimately that will lead to me going on more adventures like these. My homie Johnny Nelson is on the road with Spank Rock and he got a shark right near his Driven By Boredom tattoo and Piink from Major Lazer who got inked last week came back and got a tattoo this weekend that actually says Sailor Jerry on it. It was pretty amazing.

All the tattoos were once again done by Terry Brown at Uptown in New Orleans. Next time down there you should get him to tattoo you… just don’t get him started on his love for Public Enemy or he might never stop tattooing you.

Anyway, I got a busy day today and my band has a show tonight so I am going to get out of here, but check back in a little bit because I have one more post for you and it’s a good one….

Sailor Jerry Airstream @ Fun Fun Fun

Just like on Halloween Weekend at Voodoo Fest Sailor Jerry set up one of their airstream trailers in the artist area of Fun Fun Fun. They gave out rum drinks and actual tattoos to artists, media and festival staff. The airstream also became a place to hang out. There were benches out front and the airstream was one of the only dust storm proof place at the fest.

This star studded gallery is a collection of photos taken in and just outside of the airstream. Lot of rad bands and cute girls stopped by and you clearly need to look at these pictures. I will be back tomorrow with a sequel of sorts to this gallery when I show you all the Sailor Jerry tattoos that were given out at the airstream. Get excited.

Fun Fun Fun Fest

This is post one of a series of photo posts from the Fun Fun Fun music fest in Austin Texas that was held last weekend. I was asked to cover the crazy three day party for Sailor Jerry who seemed really happy with my work at the Voodoo fest the previous weekend. They did tattoos and passed out free drinks and I documented at all but I also got to have fun fun fun at the fest and I shot a bunch of bands and a bunch fun times and a bunch of Ryan Gosling.

This first intro post is just full of the crowd shots I took that don’t fit into any specific galleries. These photos are from all over the fest but most of them were taken in the artist/media area that I spent most of my time in because I needed to stay close to the Sailor Jerry trailer. Plus most of my friends are pretentious VIP types and they don’t like to pay for drinks or venture out into public with the unwashed masses.

Also since this is the intro post of Fun Fun Fun I should mention the Ryan Gosling thing.  He was filming a Terrence Malick film called Lawless during the fest and he was there all damn weekend and then he was at all the after parties. I ran into the guy 50 times and EVERYONE was talking about it constantly. Yesterday when I was in Chicago I felt like there was a hole in my life and I didn’t know what it was… I realized that no one had mentioned Ryan Gosling to me in the last twelve hours. So in the next three galleries will be full of “RyGo” as people kept calling him (seemingly just to intentionally make my skin crawl). After that we will move into band photos and this website will once again be a Gosling free zone. So enjoy your Gosling while you have it ladies.

Anyway, I am about to get on a plane so let’s get it on.
