Your half ’stache can be your party piece. The only thing worse was when Ariel and I used to constantly simulate me breastfeeding her. The point of the story being that there was and is worse. I think I’m trying to put you at ease, but not really.

this is weird. when i was at dinner the other night, this guy with the most awful facial hair came in. i was looking at him and thinking about what an asshole he was. he was staring at me and thinking the exact same thing. in fact, when i see people with bad facial hair, i sometimes get enraged. after these comments it is clear that this is a universal thing. i was talking about this on the subway, and this cute normal looking 20 something girl sitting alone interrupted my conversation to sarcastically mock me. i asked her why and she basically said that me having a conversation about the controversial nature of having a half stache was bullshit. she said “yeah, that is soooo rebellious”. i think that her mockery actually goes against her point. there is something to talk about here.

now while i concede that doing something like this, is somehow related to “getting attention” that is not specifically the intention. i was just shaving and i thought it looked funny, and i had never really seen anyone rocking it. i just thought i would do it for the night because it was amusing. but after seeing the reactions of people i just thought it was interesting and i wanted to keep it up for a few days to see what happens. i remember my friend used to have two blue mohawks and she would yell at people for staring at her. why did she do this if she didn’t want people staring at her? when you get right down to it, most every fashion choice people make is either to get attention, or to avoid it. fit in or stand out. personally i dont care that much about how i look. i wear a t shirt and jeans ever day. when i buy clothes (which is rare) i will buy something that i think looks good, but i dont really spend any time thinking about it. (except shoes) but occasionally i will wear stuff that i think is really funny like my gold gun belt, or my hoodie with gold dollar bills all over it. i guess it is to get attention, but mostly it is to amuse me.

so i dont really see a lot of problem with my half stache, especially because i only plan on rocking it for a few days, but i think that if i saw my self on the street, i would probably want to punch me.

FYI: Despite these two negative comments I got two texts today from cute girls that said:

“I have a tiny obsession with the stach. So naturally I liked the blog. And I like your writing. it’s effortlessly captivating”

and

“<3 the 1/2 stache!”

I also had a girl stop me while I was eating and say “you are going to cut that thing by tomorrow right?”

and

i had a girl show her friends the stache and one of her friends thought it was hot, and the two guys thought i was a douchebag (although they liked my photography

and

a friend called me five minutes after i put this blog and just laugh. and she was actually laughing with me, not at me…

so i guess the point is, this is clearly the most controversial thing i have ever done in my life.

i know a guy who did this with a beard. it was obnoxious and an obvious ploy to get attention.
