Love Me When I’m Gone Record Release Party – 2.25.12

As you may recall I spent an insane amount of my life over the last year and a half curating, fundraising and putting together by force a tribute album to my friend Ross Harman who died in September of 2010. I got about 15 band to record tracks covering Ross’ music, organized a big fundraiser, raised another $4,000 via Kickstarter and put out not just a double LP tribute albums but also Ross’ two previously digitally released solo albums on vinyl as well. It has been completely exhausting but it was honestly the only way I knew how to mourn one of my closest friends.

This whole thing came to ahead last weekend when I threw a record release party in Richmond, VA for the record.  I met Ross when we were both attending Virginia Commonwealth University and I saw his band The Gaskets play a dive bar on campus. I started managing them and booking them all over the place but most often at a club called the Nanci Raygun at 929 W. Grace St.  I threw the last party ever there which the Gaskets headlined in 2006. Since then the Raygun became a bagel place and then two years ago it reopened as a venue once again… this time as Strange Matter. I knew this was the only place to do the show.

The show at Strange Matter was completely free and featured five musical acts (and Shannon Cleary DJing between sets) starting with the Miles O’Brien Band who are made up of a bunch of Ross’ friends from the Richmond, VA music scene. They played a couple of Gaskets tunes and a couple of other songs that Ross loved. After that our friend Gary Atkinson performed a few songs in between sets. We met Gary at an open mic night the Gaskets used to test out new songs at and Ross loved Gary’s music. After that the real show began with Jim O’Brien and his band Schnitzel doing a full set of Gaskets covers. It was amazing to see how many people still knew all the Gaskets songs including a lot of old ones I hadn’t heard performed in many, many years. It was an amazing set.  After that Ross’ Gaskets partner Teddy Blanks performed his solo material for the first time in Richmond. It went over amazingly and was great to see Teddy up on the 292 W. Grace stage again. Finally the Voltron like supergroup featuring members of Novios, Rabbits and VCR headlined. Between those three bands they accounted for 5 songs on the tribute album and they played those and a ton more songs that Ross wrote. It was an amazing set and they closed the night perfectly.

We sold a bunch of records but more importantly everyone had a great time. It meant so much to talk to Ross’ friends who were so touched by this project. I worked my ass off on this thing for the last year and a half and in a way I am pretty glad it’s over. I think I can finally move on with my life now and I am so glad I will have something to remember my friend forever. RIP Ross. We fucking love you.

Ps. One of these days I will set up an online store where you can buy these records and if you ordered one through Kickstarter already I will be sending them out at the end of March when I get back to NYC. If you can’t wait you can always listen to Ross’ music for free at RossHarman.com. Also if you are in Richmond or NYC I can let you know how to get a copy of the record if you email me.

Lit Turns Ten – 2.2.12

Lit Lounge over all is my favorite bar in NYC. It has never had my favorite weekly party and I sometimes months go by without me going there, but over the 5+ years I have lived in NYC it has always been a fantastic place with rad people working there and running it. I shot some of my first naked girls in bathroom shoots at Lit (and some other things in those bathrooms…). I had one of the best nights of my life there two years before I even moved to NYC and hopefully I am gonna have my first NYC solo show at Fuse Gallery in the back of Lit. I love that place.

Last Wednesday Lit celebrated it’s 10th anniversary and even though I had to leave town the next morning I decided I had to stop by for a bit. That bit ended up being four hours followed by after hours followed by this… It was an amazing night and there were so many friends and people I was psyched to see.  It was so packed and I bumped into someone and we both remarked how tightly packed it was. He seemed annoyed by it, and I was like, “At least we are packed in here full of great people.”  I am just gonna shut up now and let you look at the pictures but I had a fucking blast on Wednesday and I expected nothing less.

Click here to see all the pictures from Lit Lounge’s 10th anniversary party.

Ps. Shout out to my girl Maluca for the great talk and all the good things she said about my work. Meant a lot and the feeling is very mutual. If for some insane you haven’t yet, get to know Maulca and her music and check out the video she shot in front of my apartment.

Trash Turns Ten – 2.10.12

While it’s true that I don’t go to the Trash party at Webster Hall very often it still has a very special place in my heart. A few months after first moved to NYC I went to the Trash new years eve party on December 31 2006. I was hooked after that. I started shooting the party regularly and I have shot it over 80 times in the last 5 years, by far more than any other party. When it was at Riffi it was my favorite party in New York. Things are a little different now that it’s at Webster Hall but there is a whole new group of kids who fucking love that party and are there every single week. DJ Jess has done an amazing job keeping this party relevant for a decade and I had to be there for his 10th anniversary party.

I had to get on a train at 3am but I took all my shit with me to Trash on Friday. I couldn’t miss this event. My boy Prince Terry’s band Hussle Club opened up the night and I got to work right away shooting them. After that I bonded with a bunch of old friends who I hadn’t seen in ages and some new ones I had met recently. It was a great time.

I had to leave around 2:20AM but right as I was leaving they were getting ready to go with what I am sure was one of the best burlesque shows Trash has ever seen. I am not a huge fan of burlesque but I have shot enough to know what I like and what I don’t. Stormy Leather and Madame Rosebud are two of the five best burlesque performers in NYC and probably the whole damn country. They cannot be fucked with. I have seen them both do their thing many times but never on the same night. Added to that was Sarah Screams who is Joanna Angel’s sister and has pretty much the greatest butt that ever was. She is a god damned professional opera singer and gets naked and sings shit that will blow your mind to a beat that DJ Jess produced. It was a damn shame I missed it all. Fortunately I took pictures of them getting dressed back stage so you get that NSFW fun in your life. Don’t worry. I care about you people.

Once again congrats to DJ Jess and everyone who has had a part in Trash over the years – Brendon James, Twig and Alex Malfunction especially. It’s been a great time hanging out with you guys the last five years. Thanks for letting me be part of the family.

Fuck Art – 2.8.12

Last week I got a chance to check out the private opening of the Fuck Art exhibit at the Museum of Sex. It’s a sex themed street art show and there is some pretty rad stuff in it. You should get over there if you have the chance.  Actually if you haven’t been to the Museum of Sex at all you should really check it out. I hadn’t and the whole museum is pretty fucking amazing.

I showed up at the opening because my friend and porn star Andy San Dimas was working with the artist LUSH and was passing out chocolate dicks made from molds of LUSH’s penis and ice cream that may or may not have had actual human semen in it. Plus she was passing out the ice cream topless so it was pretty worth me showing up for. Plus my friends at Candy Rain magazine were involved in the whole show so I felt like I had to show up.

By the end of the opening everyone was so drunk and people ended up sort of trashing the place. None of the art got damaged or anything but I have never really seen an art opening at a museum turn into total madness where people were getting thrown out and people were tagging the walls. Good times.

Lastly on an unrelated note I should mention that you should come back a lot this week. I realize I have 23 galleries of photos that I need to get up on this site and I plan on, starting tomorrow updating at least twice a day every day this week. There should be a lot of naked girls…

Anyway, click right here to see all the NSFW photos from the Fuck Art show at the Museum of Sex.

A-Trak, Skrillex & Spank Rock – 2.3.12

Last Friday Skrillex played one of what seems like a dozen shows in NYC this week at Roseland Ballroom. While I am not a huge fan of dubstep I was pretty psyched for his openers Spank Rock and A-Trak. Skrillex has gotten more press coverage than I can handle in NYC in the last week so I was content to focus on A-Trak and my homies in Spank Rock. Johnny Nelson is in Spank Rock now and he’s got my logo tattooed to his arm so they cannot be fucked. And I had the all access photo pass to shoot A-Trak so most of the shots in this gallery are of him fucking destroying one of the wildest crowds of young kids I have ever seen. It was a blast.

Sailor Jerry X Games Kickoff Party – 1.26.12

Right now I am in Aspen for the Winter X Games. It was 1 degree out yesterday… but it was a warm cold. I am in a hotel with an outdoor hot tub. It’s all pretty awesome.  Thursday night I shot the X-Games kickoff party that Sailor Jerry Rum threw at the Sky Hotel. I got to meet legendary mohawked skier Glen Plake who was a hero of mine when I was a kid. He was rolling with Tanner Hall and all the kids wanted pictures with them.  Freeskier Sean Pettit was double fisting Sailor Jerry and just pouring shots into his friends mouths and things started getting weird. At some point a dance battle broke out and people were just wilding out.

In other news I will be back in NYC tomorrow and after I recover from this insane trip I will be posting stuff like a mad man.  So much good stuff coming soon. Get excited!

2012 AVN Awards – 1.21.12

The Adult Video News Awards happens every year in Las Vegas and it honors the great performances in the adult entertainment world.  The world hold its collective breath waiting to find out who won the best double penetration scene. Okay maybe it’s not quite as main stream as the Oscars but I know a lot of people who care probably way too much about these awards and a bunch of people cry every year win or lose.

The show was hosted by Dave Attell with Bree Olson and Sunny Leone and it included an acrobatic show from Belladonna and a hip hop performance from Too $hort that was the highlight of the show. The awards were not without amazing technical difficulties that ended up making the whole thing pretty hilarious.  I had a great time plus the three major female awards were won by girls I have photographed.  My homegirl Bobbi Starr won the big prize, Female Performer of the Year.  EDM fan and twitter assassin Jessie Andrews took home Best Actress and a girl I just shot last week named Brooklyn Lee took home Best New Starlet. I was pretty happy for them all. Jessie’s movie Portrait of a Call Girl won a bunch of awards including best picture as well.

I was shooting the awards for all the Village Voice Media papers including the Voice, LA Weekly, SF Weekly, Miami New Times, Houston Press, Denver West World and a bunch of others… so you might see these shots all over the damn place. Plus I was shooing for AVN as well so they gave me full access to run around and shoot whatever I want so I got some pretty awesome shots of everyone before, during and after the show.

These photos are of course a bit NSFW and they are a lot of fun. You should check them out.

Is Anyone Up Las Vegas – 1.18.12

My life is too insane to deal with websites right now but I am fucking trying. As you may know I have been in Las Vegas shooting the AVN Awards and the surrounding madness. I am back in LA now and trying to get a bunch of stuff up but I am crashing at a friends house and time is not on my side. So let’s bang this out.

Last Wednesday Hunter Moore and isanyoneup.com threw an AVN Launch party at the Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay. If you don’t know who Hunter or his website is you should probably google it. It’s pretty horrible but also hilarious. Somehow no one tried to fight Hunter and everyone had a good time. I met some Gods Girls who wanted me to take some naked photos of them so we went in a back room and shot a bunch of NSFW photos of them and Hunter. Good times.

Anyway, just look at the photos and god willing there will be a bunch more later today or tomorrow. Tons of madness coming!

Lil Death – 1.15.11

Sorry I have been MIA guys. LA has been kicking my ass and the internet at this hotel fucking sucks. I have been shooting a bunch of hot ladies and their is proof on my Tumblr and Instagram. I will try to get in at least another update this week before I head to Vegas and shit gets really crazy.

Last night I shot the first and only party I will probably shoot in LA. My friends from Overthrow are out in LA now and doing a weekly Sunday party called Lil Death at a spot called One Eyed Gypsy.  I needed something to give to the LA Weekly this week and this seemed perfect. Oddly enough One Eyed Gypsy used to be called Bordello and it was the location of the first party I ever shot for the LA Weekly.

The party was fun and there were babes and some punk rock kids and some nudity and a fight which is pretty much all you can ask for a party. I would talk more about it but I gotta go eat lunch before I can shoot two more girls today before it gets dark. Good times. These pics are slightly NSFW thanks to a girl who randomly pulled her boobs out for me which I appreciated and gave her a drink ticket for.
