More than a week after the Gathering of the Juggalos ended, we have reached my penultimate update. Later today or tomorrow I will get up the last post which will have links to all of my coverage as well as a huge gallery of images, and then we can move on with our lives. But I have a pretty good one for you before we get to that.

The last night of the Gathering of the Juggalos ends with a set from the Insane Clown Posse. For the 20th anniversary they played one song off of every album and EP they have ever released, ending with a song off their upcoming album, ironically titled Be Safe. During that song a small group of juggalos set a couch or two on fire in the middle of the crowd. Juggalos love setting off fireworks in crowds, and they love burning shit, so they might as well burn some shit in the middle of the crowd.

After ICP was over the fire was going pretty strong so I ran over there to take photos. People started carrying over picnic tables and grabbing chairs and really anything they could to throw in the fire. Eventually security ran over to put it out, but juggalos just started throwing shit at them and as soon as they ran out of extinguishers the juggalos started the fire up again. 

There was a good mix of reactions of juggalos to this because juggalos contain multitudes. You had the juggalos actively involved in the fire on one hand, and the ones yelling at them to put out the fire on the other. In the middle you had juggalos just resigned to them being juggalos “fucking juggalos” one said while shaking their head. “I guess we won’t be back here next year” was a comment I heard several times. At one point people just started chanting “We fucked up! We fucked up!”

Eventually shit got even worse when juggalos started throwing fireworks and eventually propane tanks into the fire. At one point a commercial grade firework shot out of the fire and exploded feet from a juggalo who didn’t even flinch. Others around him jumped out of a way like it was a hand grenade, but this one motherfucker just stood there taking it all in. I started laughing so hard I was crying and had to lay on the ground. In the very last picture below (but not the last picture in the gallery) you can see something explode in the fire which sent a juggalo flying. He was somehow fine but was nearly trapped under the picnic table he was carrying at the time. It was quite the scene. 

I of course used the opportunity to do a little photo booth and after I shot Khloe Kapri and a few other friends in front of the fire I had juggalos lined up to take their picture in front of it. It was pretty entertaining and I stuck around for a while, but eventually it was clear that this fire was never going to be put out, and it was going to become this Eternal Flame that was carried from Gathering to Gathering by juggalos with torches so I decided I had to finally leave.

As I was walking out of the Gathering I saw fire trucks lined up, but they weren’t entering. Juggalo journalist Camille Dodero told me later that the fire department didn’t enter the grounds because they viewed the juggalos as a threat to their safety which is a little silly because juggalos wouldn’t hurt them, but they sure as hell would throw some Faygo at them. Whoop whoop.

I have three more juggalo posts to go. The last one might not go up until Monday because my last juggalo article goes up then and I was trying to time it with that so I could have a final list of all my published articles. That last one will just be an “everything else” post with over 300 images in it, so be on the lookout for that one. The second to last post I get up this weekend should be pretty cool too…. This one? Not so much.

I learned something new about my mirrorless camera this weekend… it is very bad at focusing in total darkness. The camera is great in low light, but in pitch black it doesn’t work it all. I turned on the little green auto assist light but it’s right where I hold the camera so my hand was always blocking it and then my lens is too long for it with the adapter to make it work with a mirrorless so it was a total fucking nightmare. I honestly have never been so frustrated with any equipment I have ever had in my life. Fortunately there aren’t a ton of situations where I am working in total darkness, but I know in the future I need to break out the old DSLR for that.

Long story short is that a lot of the stuff I shot at night looks like trash, but I did still shoot some cool stuff and there are almost 100 photos in this gallery so they aren’t all bad. As far as content goes, it’s all just kinda general madness and I don’t have a ton of stuff to say about it. There is some nudity so maybe a NSFW warning is in order but you are looking at photos of juggalos on a site that is mostly nudes so maybe that’s something you don’t need. Yeah, let’s just get to the photos.

With another Gathering of the Juggalos comes another gallery of Mike Busey’s weird sideshow. He brings a bunch of fire breathing strippers and performers and a Puerto Rican genie and a giant man named Big LA and then convinces juggalos to do really dumb things on stage. It all makes for great photos and now you get a gallery of it.

The Busey crew was set up down the hill from the main stage and it was honestly a huge pain in the ass to go back and forth so I didn’t shoot a ton around their area as I have in the past, but I did shoot their stage show and it was nuts. They got cut off before it got really weird, but there was a dick tug of war and an ass sundae contest and a live sex show. It probably would have been much crazier (there was a sex machine bike involved) but they ran out of time. Their setlist ended with “butthole fireworks” so just imagine.

They also hosted the main stage on Saturday so I got a few shots from that including the return of the live sex show juggalos and them giving out hundreds of White Castle sliders which is always a good move.

Every year  at the Gathering of the Juggalos the band Wolfpac hosts a radio show live during the day and every year they host a bare knuckle boxing event which seems to get more and more brutal every year. I ended up watching the last day of it which featured two preliminary rounds and a championship round. Plus they did a woman’s fight but no one would fight the one woman who volunteered so she offered to fight a dude. Someone agreed and she kicked his ass. Pretty great.

The guy who won the whole thing seemed very much like he knew what he was doing and I am pretty sure he broke someone’s nose in the final fight of the event. It was kinda great. 

The most important thing to know about these photos is that most of them are in black and white. I abhor digital black and white and I generally think that reason most people convert their color images to b&w is because they took bad color photos and they needed to fix it and that is exactly what is happening here. The fights happened in a red circus tent and it made everything red and horrible looking. It was much easier to make them black and white than to try to color balance them so here we are. At the end I took the final fighters outside for some photos that weren’t under the tent so they are still color. Deal with that.

I am just going to give you a full list of musicians I photographed at the Gathering of the Juggalos in chronological order and maybe when you go through this gallery you can figure out who they are. I think will hit you with some quick notes at the end about some of the sets. Ready?

C&C Music Factory, Ouija Macc, Morris Day & The Time, Gwar, Clownvis, Skylar, Butcher Babies, Suicide Boys, Soopa Villainz, Esham, Ghostemane, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Inner City Posse, ABK, KRS-ONE, Geto Boys & the Insane Clown Posse.

The highlight for me was KRS-ONE. I have seen him a half dozen times in my life but not in the last 15 years or so. He was supposed to play in the middle of the night and I was bummed I was going to miss it, but then he came out on the main stage and I was really far away and pretty much sprinted over to take photos from the crowd. Seeing Morris Day & The Time was pretty cool as well. C&C Music Factory was just the one guy doing karaoke and that was depressing as hell. I wish I caught more of Clownvis’ set but the first day we were there we were on no sleep and had to bounce. I took terrible photos of Gwar and still got Gwar juice sprayed all over me. Seeing the Geto Boys without Bushwick Bill was really sad. All the GOTJ Crew shirts had memorial patches for him on them which was really nice. And lastly it was a cool surprise to see ICP preform as Inner City Posse and do their first record Dog Beats, but they did it in a red tent in the middle of the day so the photos were pretty much unsable. I included a couple anyway. 

Okay, that’s it. More updates coming soon I hope. I actually have no idea where I am even going when I check out of my hotel so that should be fun.

Hey, it’s 2am right now and I am in a hotel on the outskirts of Orlando, FL. I fucked up my return trip to NYC and I have to be in Miami for a few days so here I am on a mini Florida trip that is really getting in the way of me getting these photos up. I want to get something up but I haven’t had any time yet. I have pulled photos for clients so what I’m going to do is pull a bunch of those photos and put some of them in one galley here and call it best of even though that’s probably not true. I will then return with a bunch of other galleries, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Before we get to these photos I should mention that the Gathering of the Juggalos starts tomorrow. It will be my 10th straight year photographing the weirdest festival on the planet and their 20th anniversary. It’s in the middle of nowhere Indiana this year and I have to fly into Louisville, drive two hours to my hotel and then another 40 minutes to the festival. Hopefully it should be pretty weird. I have another update mostly ready to go, but not sure if I will have any time to even think about it until the Gathering is over. From there I head straight to Florida to work on this secret Miami Dolphins related project, but that doesn’t start until the 8th, so I am going to spend a couple days shooting and vacationing since it doesn’t really make sense to go back to NYC in between. Hopefully during those days I will also be able to get most of my juggalo photos up, but who knows. Anyway, my life gets back to normal on the 12th of August, but in the meantime, go follow my Instagram and Twitter for all the contents. 

Okay, now let’s get some photos up. These shots are of my friend Melina Mason who had retired from the adult industry for a long time, and then became a consultant for escorts under the name Lydia Dupra, but is now back doing adult work as well. The wildest thing about Melina is that I have now photographed her three times and every time she looks like a completely different person. The last time I got some really nice shots though. The first time I photographed her in my bathtub with her now ex and the photos are garbage so I am not even going to link to those. Meh. 

Anyway, I shot these in Melina’s kitchen at the end of last year and they have been sitting on a hard drive with a bunch of other stuff I shot on that LA trip, but now that I have a bunch of new LA trip stuff, I need to get the old stuff up. The worst part of that is three of those shoots are with people that I have photographed again since then, so it’s a whole thing. Moving on…

Before I finish this post I should mention that there aren’t any Girls of Driven By Boredom exclusive shots from this shoot like normal, BUT I did just post a fully exclusive shoot with Charlotte Sartre on there that won’t be posted anywhere else. Another 35mm post? Didn’t we just do that? Don’t you want to help me pay for some film? Why am I asking questions instead of starting the post?

My friend Olivia Luccardi is an actress you might know from Orange Is The New Black, It Follows or Channel Zero. Recently she finished up the third and final season of HBO’s the Deuce and decided to move out to California like all New Yorkers do when they get too old to live in a 100 year old building in Queens with 8 roommates and no air conditioning. Part of that move involved buying a car, and that’s when this post comes in. 

When I found out Olivia had a car the first thing I did was ask her if she wanted to go on a road trip and take a million photos. She is a photographer as well and I love taking her photo and I figured it would be a really fun trip. She was down, but we didn’t know where to go so I suggested Rhode Island because it’s the only state east of the Dakotas that I haven’t been to. She was down and off we went.

The first day we went to Providence, but of course I had to stop at a giant milk jug and a pest control company with a giant blue bug on their roof. I live for that shit. But before we even got to Rhode Island we ran into the Pez factory which was fucking amazing. Oh, and also, I realize all of this is out of order and I could just go back and fix it but obviously I am not going to do that, but we got caught taking topless photos in front of the bug by an amused security guard.  

On day two we went to the beach in Newport but they wouldn’t let Oliva in the water with her giant inflatable llama and there was a big red algae bloom that she was kinda freaked out about so we didn’t stay there long. We did go on a scenic hike, ate some really good clam chowder and got stuck in a rainstorm. It was all pretty fun. On the way there we took a bunch of photos of Mr. Potato Head. Apparently he was invented in Rhode Island and they are really psyched about that for good reason.

Day three we actually spent in Connecticut because there is a weird castle that someone built way after castles were being built and they turned it into a state park and that all looked photogenic so to Gillette Castle we went. We did the tour and looked at a bunch of frogs in a pond and then were trying to figure out where we could go swimming when Olivia realized we weren’t too far from her cousin Brie’s place where they had a pool and would feed us and that sounded great and it was. The pool was honestly amazing and we got crabs and pasta and it was the best. After that we drove Brie back to the city but not before stopping at a little stream and taking some more photos. I really want to go back there when it’s not getting dark and take some more photos and go swimming and stuff.

Oh! We also saw a movie and shot some topless photos in a completely empty movie theater… at least we thought it was empty. At some point I looked up and saw that someone was sitting in the back row and neither of us knew when she got there but she might have seen the whole shoot. Whoops. 

Speaking of topless photos, none of the topless photos are on this site. This is a very safe for work gallery, but there are a bunch of movie theater photos and some topless bug photos that you can pay to see if you really want. The movie theater ones are legitimately great but gonna keep those behind a paywall. Go look at them here. They’ve been up since yesterday and they are in way higher resolution.

I got back from LA a few days ago and my first stop was to my film lab to drop off the 31 rolls of film I have shot over the last month. I was gone four weekends in a row after going upstate with some friends and then a road trip with my friend Olivia and then immediately going to LA for two weeks. As you may have noticed I went like three weeks without updating the site. I didn’t update Girls of DBB in even longer. I just figured I should make up for that and I had a pretty good idea of how to do that. 

On my LA trip I shot more than 20 rolls of film and I figured I would just upload a ton of that stuff. I put together a gallery of over 300 images and aside from having a ton of naked pornstar photos for you to look at as you are wont to do, it’s also an interesting look at the way I shoot. When I am doing a shoot I shoot the stuff for this website on my digital camera, but then I shoot with a bunch of other cameras too and I have something a little different in mind with each camera.

I keep black in white film in my Leica M6 and with that camera I tend to slow down more, partially because the range finder takes a second to focus, but also because I tend to enjoy stiller black and white stuff. I also tend to shoot more documentary style stuff in black an white. I keep my old Nikon SLR filled with high ISO color film. The Fuji Natura/ Superia 1600 has such a great look to it, especially in cool light, and I am so bummed they stopped making it. Fortunately I still have about 15 rolls in my freezer. I also keep just your average 400 speed film in my point & shoot camera that I keep on me at all times. I use this when I don’t want to pull out a bigger camera, or because I want to use the flash on it. I also like capturing the in between moments with it as well. I tend to get frustrated when looking at that stuff side by side with my cameras with nice lenses but I have shot a ton of my favorite photos on p&s cameras so I won’t complain too much. I shoot a bunch of Instax too, but we are talking about 35mm today…

The gallery I uploaded isn’t in chronological order, but the order my film lab scanned them in, so you might see one photo, and then several pages later in the gallery you see almost the identical photo shot on a different type of film. The black and white stuff was scanned first so it’s at the beginning of the gallery but otherwise everything is pretty random. As you go through it you can see my process if you care about any of that. If not you can just look at the nudes. Whatever works.

This gallery also serves as a preview of the 17 girls I photographed in 14 days. Some of these will be exclusive to Girls of DBB, but I also did multiple shoots with Chloe Amour and Ella Nova so it’s more like 20 galleries total. Here’s the list of the other 15 girls in chronological order: My friend Tessa, Jade Baker, Jane Wilde, Audrey Noir, Bunny Colby, Raya Blade (with Jasmine Grey), Charlotte Sartre, Damia, Kasey Warner, Khloe Kapri, Arya Fae, Jennalyn Ponraj (non nude), Chloe Cherry, Ginger Banks and Nikki Hearts (also non nude). Aside from all those shoots there’s a ton of other stuff in here like shots from Jules Jordan’s 4th of July party and just hanging out with people. There’s some real weird stuff of Charlotte, Nikki & Leigh Raven for example. I didn’t shoot anything digital there, but the film photos are way worth lurking. Oh and I shot a bunch of 35mm photos of my neighbor Kirra who happened to be in LA at the same time. 

Anyway, I am gonna end this post and let you look at this truly massive gallery, but I should plug a couple of things real quick. The first one is of course Girls of Driven By Boredom. There are more than a dozen more photos in that gallery than this one, they were posted on there earlier and in way higher resolution.
