Celebrities At The Gathering Of The Juggalos

At times in this post the word “celebrity” may be used a little loosely, but please know that in my mind Jimmy Walker is pretty much as big as they come.

From reading about the Insane Clown Posse and actually talking to them during the Gathering it has become pretty clear to me that one of the reasons ICP throws this huge party every year is so they can see some of their favorite artists and meet some of their childhood heroes. The Gathering of the Juggalos doesn’t make a lot of money for them, if anything at all… they do it so their fans can have a crazy time at least once a year.  But at the same time ICP invites artists that they love even if their fans don’t give a shit.

When Camile Dodero asked ICP who they were excited about they gushed about Paris, a 90’s gansta rapper than 95% of juggalos had never heard of until he did a track with Anybody Killa. You got the feeling ICP just wanted to share the stage with him and maybe show juggalos what Paris was all about.

Anyway, the point is the Gathering is always crawling with weird celebrities you probably forgot existed. Last year it was Gallagher and Todd Bridges.  This year it was Jimmy Walker and Dustin Diamond. Ron Jeremy has been a constant presence both years, bringing willing juggalos back to his trailer. Famous wrestlers from long ago hobble the campgrounds like wounded veterans. X Pac and Razor Ramon spent their days riding in golf carts posing for pictures. Plust the comedy night brought out the hilarious Harland Williams and Brian Posehn.

And then of course their are the musicians.  George Clinton and Ice Cube are as big as they come.  Xzibit was there as a rapper but people I talked to couldn’t name a song by him but knew him from Pimp My Ride. Flavor Flav hosted Sunday night and hyped the crowd like he has been doing for decades. On top of that Psychopathic Records stable of artists featured home grown celebrities like Twiztid, ABK, Boondox and Blaze and of course the newest edition to the Psychopathic family… Vanilla Ice.

But the big story at this years Gathering was of course Charlie Sheen.  Without a doubt the biggest celebrity to ever show his face in Cave In Rock, IL Sheen was the topic of plenty of media both before and after the event. Despite what I have read online about juggalos pelting him with garbage, Sheen was universally loved by juggalos. They throw shit at everyone and unless they are throwing glass, urine or human feces you are doing okay.  Charlie Sheen caught one can of Faygo out of the air to huge applause and another glow stick on his way off stage. It could not have been perfect.  In our interviews with ICP and Twiztid both groups had nothing but good things to say about Sheen and how he went out of his way to talk to them and was cool to everyone back stage.  He even posed for a picture for me when I yelled at him from off stage. He bent down and posed for longer than he should have while I dealt with my malfunctioning Faygo soaked camera. I have always been a Charlie Sheen fan, and recently he obtained hero status and nothing he did at the Gathering changed my mind.

Anyway, I have about 50 shots I dubbed “celebrity” shots and while most of them are just of Charlie Sheen yelling “Whoop whoop winning!” on stage the gallery is still worth checking out.

Juggalette Porn!

One year ago I put up a gallery of nothing but pictures of topless juggalettes from the Gathering of the Juggalos. It was by far the most popular gallery I posted from the Gathering last year. The issue was that I called it “Juggalo Porn”. I just thought that was kinda a funny attention grabbing title. The problem was that people kept giving me shit because they are trying to tell me that female ICP fans are juggalettes not juggalos. And while this is of course true, all ICP fans are juggalos.  So if you are a juggalette you are also a juggalo so like shut the fuck up already.

The important thing is that this is a HUGE gallery of 113 photos of topless and or naked juggalettes. There are some doubles but it is stil a wild collection of juggalette boobs. I mean you have everything from hot girls with amazing boobs to fat stretch marked floppy titties that kinda make you want to cry yourself to sleep and that is just the beauty of it all. At the Gathering no one is judged. Pregnant and just recently pregnant girls can walk around topless without feeling any sort of shame. It is a feminist paradise. There are no eating disorders at the Gathering, just eating…

This gallery is so epic so prepare to be both turned on and horrified at the same time. This is what you all came to see. Prepare yourself for the very NSFW juggalette porn!

Click here to see all the amazing juggalette porn from the Gathering of the Juggalos!

Ps. There are 115 photos in this gallery. You have been warned.

The Musical Acts Of The Gathering Of The Juggalos

One thing that may have slipped past you when you were mocking my decision to travel to the Gathering of the Juggalos was that the bill of non clown related acts was absolutely incredible. I hit Lollapalooza the weekend before the Gathering and there were maybe three bands I was mildly exited to see. At the Gathering there were one or two bands every night I was fucking psyched about.

No matter what your beef is with the Insane Clowns you cannot fuck with a bill that includes Ice Cube, Bobby Brown and George Clinton.  Oh, did I mention Lil Jon, Xzibit, Mystikal, Busta Rhymes, Juvenile and Tech N9ne? Wanna go old school? How about MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, E-40, DJ Quik and Paris.  For the rockers you got bands like CKY, Saliva, Kittie and Hed Pe.  Plus about 100 other bands that I have no fucking clue are but I am sure are at the very least entertaining to watch. People kept telling me about a band made up of Kung Fu Vampires. You probably should not fuck with that.

A few notes about the bands before I give you guys the pictures:

  • MC Hammer fucking killed it. Seriously. That guy is probably better now than he ever was and went over so surprisingly well. He had the juggalos eating out of his hand by the second song and he spent most of his set in the crowd with them.
  • Paul Wall never showed and may or may not get murdered via hatchet in the next few weeks. Juvenile walked off the stage after two water bottles came near him. It was really embarrassing. And Busta Rhymes went on two hours late, perhaps due to pineapples, but then redeemed himself by rocking the crowd and seemed genuinely moved by the love the juggalos showed him.
  • The moment I realized I am turning juggalo was when I heard Mystikal walk off stage and tell his boys “That was so fucking fun.” The juggalos threw so much shit at him and I was afraid he was going to pull a Juvenile and walk off but after 6 years in prison I am sure the Gathering was a peice of cake. The dude killed it and walked off part of the “Family” and I felt a lot of pride cause I guess I am part of that family too.
  • Ice Cube opened with two N.W.A. songs and I almost lost it. I could barely take photos while I was screaming the words. It was amazing and that dude is so pro juggalo and said he would keep coming back as long as they would have him.  If it keeps him from doing a sequel to “Are We There Yet” I support it.
  • Wolfpac was the only band I photographed from start to finish. They were on a side stage and had strippers with them. I’ll post those pictures in their own post in a few days.
  • And George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic? Holy shit. Fucking amazing.

Okay, that’s all I got. It’s time to look at fucking pictures.

The Psychopathic Family

Welcome back to The Gathering of the Juggalos! Remember my trip last year? I certainly will never forget it. I posted 21 galleries, did two million page views in a week and was the only photographer to shoot Tila Tequila getting attacked by insane clowns.  It was an exhausting trip that ended up being one of the biggest moments of my career. Of course I had to return for the 12th annual GOTJ and I once again rode shotgun with my juggalo anthropologist companion Village Voice writer Camille Dodero. She wrote this article which changed our lives a little bit and we had to go back to where it all began.

This year I tried to shoot less and take it a bit easier. We got a hotel and I only shot about 3000 photos which I edited down into just over 1000 photos and a scant 9 updates.  So let’s start at the beginning with the end. The last performance of the Gathering was an epic Insane Clown Posse set that ended with what they call the “Faygo Armageddon”.  During ICP’s entire set they pour the off brand soda Faygo on the crowd much to the delight of everyone in the crowd and to the dismay of photographers and bouncers alike. At the end of their set they have hundreds of two liters of Faygo left and they bring out all their friends back stage to shake the Faygo up pour that shit on everything.  Camile and I got to participate and it was easily one of the most fun things I have ever done.  I launched several dozen Faygo bottles into the crowd and got soaked to the bone in diet soda (evidently the sugar in non diet Faygo eats through the stage set). All of the artists on Psychopathic Records were out there with us in full face paint making the whole event one of the most surreal things I have taken part in.

I decided to make my first GOTJ 2011 update a collection of all the shots I took of bands that are on Psychopathic Records.  I figured it would make for a good introduction and let you know what the juggalos are listening to other than ICP. In this gallery you will find shots of ICP and Twiztid as well as the super group they form together, Dark Lotus.  Also we have shots from Anybody Killa (ABK) and Blaze Ya Dead Homie.  I missed the Psychopathic Rydaz and Boondox this year… Also it should be noted that they announced at the Gathering that Vanilla Ice has been signed to Psychopathic.  Seriously, I am not at all kidding. No word on if he will wear face paint or not…

Okay, let’s get on with it… We have 8 more updates to go!

T&A Tuesdays – 8.9.11

If I thought Monday night in Chicago was a crazy time my Tuesday got a lot wilder. Honestly I can’t even talk about what happened between 4 and when I eventually went to sleep at 9am but you can try to use your imagination.

T&A Tuesdays is a Burning Angel sponsored party every Tuesday night at the Chicago rock and roll dive bar Exit. My homie Damon James bartends with his girlfriend and porn babe Veruca James and then the party is hosted by more Burning Angels Phoenix Ascani and Azure Maddox.  Plus since I was in town shooting the party Damon managed to bring out all six Chicago Burning Angels including Felix, Rizzo Ford and Sidney Scarlet.

The night started out with me bringing all the girls up stairs and we did a group photo shoot.  I will be posting that some other time but there are a few preview shots I left in this gallery.  The night ended with everyone getting destroyed and topless. Even random bar goers got their tits out. Burning Angel porn was playing the whole time making it the second night in a row I shot a party with porn on in the background. Clearly Chicago gets me. They do a raffle each week and they gave away BA DVDs and some of my t-shirts and shit. My stickers ended up all over the place and Azure did pole tricks all night. I forget the DJ’s name because I am an asshole but he played half of Fucking Bullshit’s set list. It was an amazing fucking night.  It is pretty much the wildest party you could have at a dive bar. Clearly these photos are very NSFW.

You need to click here to see all the madness from T&A Tuesdays at Exit in Chicago.

PS. If you clicked the girls names above you will notice that I have only shot Veruca, Phoenix and Azure, but don’t worry, my last day in Chicago I shot Rizzo, Felix and my new homie for life Sidney Scarlet. You will see those pictures soonish! Get excited!

Porn & Chicken – 8.8.11

Holy shit this weekend was insane. I will have so much crazy juggalo madness for you starting tomorrow but today I gotta get up the last two shoots I did in Chicago. I am WAY behind.

A week ago Monday my friends over at Darkroom Demons gave me one of their weekly gigs. They had a shoot early the next morning and I badly needed the money so it worked out perfectly for both of us.  But when I took the gig I figured it was just going to be work. I had no idea how much fun the party was going to be.

Porn & Chicken is a weekly event at Evil Olive in Chicago and it is an amazing party. It reminds me of NYC when I first moved here in 2006.  If you combine Ruff Club and Rated X with the Ruff Kids DJing Dubstep you might get a pretty good idea of how this party is. They also have weird porn playing on all the TVs and free fried chicken if you show up early in the night.  Seems like my kinda party.

The theme for the night was LARP for some reason and all the staff were dressed up like elves and wizards and shit. It was really weird but kinda awesome. The party was hosted by a bunch of fun kids but this one dude Dom was running around the club like a crazy person with a wireless mic hyping the party all night. At one point he had a fire extinguisher looking smoke machine and was hosing off the crowd with it. At 2AM Dom and a barbarian dressed bartender got on the bar and they play the “Porn & Chicken song” which calls for everyone to take the shirt off. If girls take their shirts off they get liquor poured down their throats. Girls dance on the bar in their bras and madness takes over the party for the rest of the night.

Also speaking of girls, Burning Angels Veruca James and Rizzo Ford were there and got their boobs out enough to call this party NSFW, but Veruca stepped her game up towards the end of the night and got naked on the bar and eventually a bouncer put her into a cage and shit got wild. Her boyfriend ended up knocking a dude out for some unrelated shit and by the time I left the club I was just wishing there was a party like Porn & Chicken in NYC.

You need to see these pictures. Click here to see all the shots of Chicago’s Porn & Chicken at Evil Olive.

A Quick Update On Life

Right now I am in Southern Illinois in a Comfort Inn an hour away from Cave In Rock, IL and the Gathering of the Juggalos. I have no cell service or internet while I am at the Gathering every day and when I come back to the hotel to sleep I just basically edit photos and sleep. I have no time to update. Right now it is 9:40AM and I have yet to sleep. I have to be back at the Gathering in a few hours.

So here are some updates… for those wondering my Grandmother finally died the other night. It is really upsetting to me but I am so busy I can’t even think about being upset. The funeral is next weekend and I plan on dedicating a post to her and finally having some time to mourn when I get back home.

Nextly, I shot two parties in Chicago that were crazy. Porn & Chicken on Monday and T&A on Tuesday. They were both great and make for totally insane pictures. Unfortunately, I haven’t had time to get them up yet, but I did send pictures from each party to Time Out Chicago. Check out Porn & Chicken here and T&A Tuesday here and then come back here for more, dirtier and bigger photos from my trip…

Lastly, I just wanted you to make sure to check my Tumblr for tons of insane photo updates from the Gathering of the Juggalos. And you can check out this gallery on the Village Voice for some daily updated pictures.

That’s all. Thanks.

2011 Lollapalooza Crowd Shots

Time to dump on you guys the rest of my Lollapalooza shots. These are all the crowd shots and the fun party people and so on and so forth. I found the best partying was going on around the Perry stage which was sort of the rave tent. I spent a lot of time shooting the crowd around Skrillex and Afrojack on the first day. Shot a bunch of the artist lounge on day two and almost no crowd shots on day three. Luckily I shot so much on day one there is a pretty serious gallery for you to look at.

Also, if you missed my Lollapalooza band shots click here.

And lastly before I get to these pictures I should mention that I am headed back to the Gathering of the Juggalos again and if it’s anything like last year I should be pretty much off the grid.  That being said I was told there will be internet access so I would be checking my Tumblr for daily updates.  Either way I will be back by Monday at the latest with the rest of the pictures from my Chicago trip and they are pretty fucking wild.

So click here to see all the crowd shots from the 2011 Lollapalooza in Chicago, IL.

2011 Lollapalooza Band Photos

I am nearly recovered from Lollapalooza and I figured it is time to get some photos up. Lollapalooza was a total shit show and after the first day I didn’t see how I could possibly make it through the weekend. Fortunately day one was the worst of it and unfortunately I didn’t get a lot of shots on days two and three.

After shooting a few bands and hundreds of crowd shots on day one I returned to Lollapalooza a bit late on day two after sleeping through my alarm. When I got down there I photographed Death From Above 197s and then tried to go to one of the VIP lounges. My pass wasn’t working and I spent nearly two hours getting a replacement. By that time it was nearly 6pm and I made it just in time to shoot Ween and then head over to shoot The Pretty Reckless which I heard was a wild show. After that I ran into the Sailor Jerry team and they got me into the artist area and I hung out there for a while before I called it a day. On day three I had a bunch of bands I wanted to shoot but the earliest band, Cage The Elephant, did’t start till 5:15 so I didn’t get down there until about 5pm. After their set I ran over to another stage to shoot Best Coast. During their first song the sky exploded and I got soaked. I wasn’t really prepared for the rain and I didn’t want my shit to get ruined so I got the fuck out of there and that was the end of my Lollapalooza trip.

In total I shot only 7 bands (plus Girl Talk) and none of the big headliners because they had bullshit photo waivers that I refused to sign. Those bands were The Kills, Crystal Castles, Death From Above 1979, Ween, The Pretty Reckless, Cage The Elephant, Best Coast and Girl Talk.

Not going to get into write ups on all the bands but I should mention a few things. First of all, Cage The Elephant were amazing. Their front man was running all over the stage and in the crowd and they really, really impressed me. They just gained themselves a new fan. I was also very impressed by The Pretty Reckless. They are fronted by Gossip Girl’s Taylor Momsen which at first would lead me to believe that they would be awful, but she put on a hell of a show and I was very surprised at how good of a front woman she was. The next day I saw her do an acoustic set at the Express Rocks Suite and her voice was pretty incredible. And lastly I figured I should mention the Crystal Castles set. I was told that we couldn’t photograph from the photo pit because a photographer sued Crystal Castles for breaking his camera once. I took this as a challenge and managed to used 15 years of mosh pit experience to push my way to the front. Right as I got there the girl from the band jumped into the crowd right next to me and I got some amazing shots without breaking my camera. The rest of the photographers were shooting from a hill with long telephoto lenses. I win.

Anyway, that is it for today. I hopefully will be able to get the crowd shots up tomorrow before I leave town for the madness that is the Gathering of the Juggalos.
